By The Frankman Go To PostI think that the false accusations diminish the severity and seriousness of the legitimate ones a helluva lot more than my one post on a messageboard? No they don't if you treat them as an isolated incident (which, again, I am advising you to do) rather than an under-reported pandemic (it is not) that needs to be addressed (it shouldn't).
By The Frankman Go To PostAs for accusations, I pointed at ONE. And I even said either she's lying or Seal is a scumbag. Stop putting words in my mouth and painting me to a side.Naw that's twice now you've done this. Don't play coy.
At the end of the day, with all that's coming out, reminding people that some people lie about sexual assault over and over is sus af and sketchy at best. What's the angle here?
By domino Go To PostI'd roast him (I got some awkward odd ass friends so this Aziz thing honestly doesn't sound that out of the ordinary for me) but that's about it. Pretty sure everyone acknowledges Aziz lack of game here but just cause you hit a certain age doesn't mean you have a certain amount of game. That's not game lol
The game does not involve chasing people with your dick out. If anything its buying an uber for a girl that's bullshitting and going about your business.
People conflating awkwardess around women with being a fucked up asshole is kind of how we're in this mess.
By reilo Go To PostFrank… don't do this.
Do you actually have any evidence to back up your 30% assertion? If the answer is a resounding no, then don't make the claim.

By The Frankman Go To PostSexual harassment is the new black.
I know I'm going to get heat for this, but I won't be surprised if 30% of these claims turn out to be false/moneygrabs.
now you gettin heat and look at you lol

There’s also a fear of physical retaliation, the seed of panic that sits in the pit of a woman’s stomach when an encounter turns from fulfilling to frightening. The likelihood that Ansari would have physically retaliated against his anonymous accuser is small; ostensibly women turn men down for sex all the time without experiencing physical consequences. But the two had just met; they barely knew each other. How could she have known what kind of guy he was? Women feel this fear all the time when things start to sour. We want them to go well, we go into them hoping they will. Sometimes they don’t. I’ve never seen a mainstream women’s publication publish 10 super hot tips on how to leave a date with a guy who you definitely don’t want to sleep with.good stuff
As women like Grace were raised on the promise that they will one day love liberated sex, men Ansari’s age were raised on the worst possible place to learn about sex: the internet. Ansari’s anonymous accuser compared his actions to that of a “horny” teenager who didn’t know what he was doing, like somebody who learned about how to have sex from watching pornography. Men born after 1986 or so, men now in their thirties, have likely had access to the internet and its commensurate trove of porn since they were tweens. (That’s not to say that all pornography is bad in all circumstances, but even the most sex-positive among us can probably agree that it’s a bad thing for young people to watch during their sexually formative years.) There’s bound to be a clash between women raised to believe sex is empowering for women and men who spent their teen years jerking off to sex that’s frequently degrading to women.
And even without porn raising boys to believe that human breasts look like two half-globes perched high beneath tight spray-tanned pectoral skin, young men and women are still, to an extent, raised to believe that it is a woman’s job to be a sexual gatekeeper and a man’s job to argue his way into sex. Some men are raised with the fucked-up notion that nonverbal cues are not a hard “no”; some women are raised with the fucked-up notion that they should give nonverbal cues when they want to have sex, but don’t want the man they’re about to have sex with to think they’re easy.

EDIT: LMAO WHAT
ERA has been particularly awful discussing the Aziz story. The original thread was an echo chamber and any dissenting opinion was banned for victim blaming. Now the the public opinion seems to be against the woman so they are just locking threads so they don't have to ban everyone for victim blaming. Its like everything accused GAF of being, but with red banners to make it clear.
Clearly a valuable to discussion to be had, but its hard when one end says there is no victim and the other says someone was raped.

Er
More of a rebrand than a change of values and approach.
The Aziz Ansari case is a topic worth discussing and should be done without tone policing because it affects all of us and how we approach each other in public and in private. Yes, there will be those who come to it in bad faith but its because of that we must tackle this issue warts and all.

Unreal.
Unreal.
Least we hit a point where judges are putting assholes through the wringer instead of victim blaming.
A lot of people are casually fucked up. it's how we keep having widespread issues. Soon as sex is involved we act like it's okay to relinquish responsibility to ensure the other person is okay. You got parents not even believing their children about a piece of shit like Nassar. People either go deep into denial about abuse or try to rationalize the behavior or put the onus on victims. None of this deals with the overall problem. And people will say well x is different y, you won't be able to even tackle many male victims if we don't have these discussions about sexual coercion, power dynamics and emotional manipulation. At the end of the day it's all varying degrees of abuse we routinely fail to recognize as such and as a result don't do shit about it. It's why I'm unfortunately not surprised by victim counts anymore or coaches and doctors taking advantage of minors. Enablers and deniers keep assholes like Nassar going. We routinely forget our foundations are women and children as merely objects to do with what you please and it's much easier to take the non-confrontational route even as some fuckhead is violating children. It's why it's not a joke when people talk about how one man's career > *. He's a doctor, what are you? Oh just a girl. He knows this, predators know we will side with them, the more successful and useful and monetarily valuable the better for them. Our society is fucked up.
'Spending four or five days listening to them is significantly minor considering the hours of pleasure you’ve had at their expense and ruining their lives.'
She then noted: 'None of this should come as a surprise to you.'

Recieved a lengthy email from the president of MSU, I'll just give you a highlight:
In a recent letter to the Michigan State Attorney General, MSU's external counsel, including former U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, underscored those clear instructions from the Board and stated that, ". . . the evidence will show that no MSU official believed that Nassar committed sexual abuse prior to newspaper reports in the summer of 2016."
Really?
Lansing, MI -- In 1997, teenage gymnast Larissa Boyce told a Michigan State University coach that she was uncomfortable with the intravaginal treatments she was getting from Larry Nassar, a MSU sports medicine doctor.
http://www.detroitnews.com/story/tech/2018/01/18/msu-president-told-nassar-complaint-2014/1042071001/
At least 14 Michigan State University staffers and representatives were warned about Larry Nassar’s sexual abuse over the course of two decades and allegedly did nothing to stop it, according to an explosive new report from the Detroit News.

Early in her statement, she appeared to look at Nassar himself, and said coldly: “You do realize now the women you so heartlessly abused over such a long period of time are now a force, and you are nothing.”
For this sport to go on, we need to demand real change, and we need to be willing to fight for it. It’s clear now that if we leave it up to these organizations, history is likely to repeat itself.Watch the whole speech in the vid in there tho.
Now is the time to acknowledge that the very person who sits before us now—who perpetrated the worst epidemic of sexual abuse in the history of sports, who is going to be locked up for a long, long time—this monster was also the architect of policies and procedures that are supposed to protect athletes from sexual abuse for both USA Gymnastics and the USOC.
I haven't watched it but totally agree. And those organizations are still being trash throughout this process. USA gymnastics still has people at the Karolyi's and MSU is behind the prresiend of the university who over saw this for over 20 years, who also said they couldnt make time in their schedule to be there in person but will watch a live stream of it.
Oh hey look a comparable to Penn State. This time it wasn't even protecting football ....

Of course not ... just that the culture surrounding college sports is fucking insanity. All the way from the fan to the player to the admin. What this story shows is that it doesn't just have to be football or a "money maker" sport for it to be corrupted by the culture either.

This thread on the closing statements has some interesting things:
Yeah I feel like people digging at the judge for that statement are ignoring that she had 150+ women on the roll and victim statements for days, each of which asked her to throw the book at dude as hard as he could given his 30 year run of this bullshit and multiple adults failing them at every level from parents to staff.

Well obviously that’s not the most important takeaway from this, but again, the story is about the victims. I’m just queasy that the gif of the judge tearing up the letter is getting 18k retweets. That’s all.
It’s not important, but it’s something.
By DY_nasty Go To PostAlso, I'm kinda shocked that's even the takeway from all this lol
I think in an ideal any and every judge makes their assessments without internal bias. This obviously isn't a reality since we're all human. There was a race related case kinda like this a short time ago. I don't remember the outcome, but a black man was trying to have a case thrown out (one in which he was obviously guilty) because the judge had said expressed racist beliefs.
My personal take away is, even though it's probably best not to reveal personal opinion here, Child Predators aren't a protected class and bias against them isn't controversial. So ehh like who cares, man.

you sit through these proceedings and act like you wouldn't tell this dude to fuck off into the sun lol
if this was a petty stuff, sure, judge should stay in step with her station. but this isn't making repeat DUI offender ride a bike to work with a breathalyzer attached to the kickstand or a case where someone's slapped with an unreasonable probation in order to keep them under thumb for trivial reasons - this is most likely the biggest monster any of the people associated with will ever encounter in their lifetimes. if you can't tell this kind of person to get comfy in hell, then you're strange af imo.
I watch a lot of true crime documentaries. Judges basically tell serial rapists and killers that they're going to die in prison and to fuck themselves pretty consistently.
I'm just seeing her video/gif pop up in my feed again and again, whereas I did not see the same thing for Aly Raisman's testimony the other day. I didn't even realize Shawn Johnson testified yesterday until this morning, and I consider myself pretty buttoned up on what's been happening. I don't know if this is the judge's fault or if it's our collective need for something that's gif-able and shareable, but despite the judge repeatedly stating that this is the victims' story, she's become a part of it.
And yeah, that bothers me.
And yeah, that bothers me.
judges throwing 2 cents in after sentencing is far from abnormal but this is already way the fuck off the rails and not worth as many posts
