Yeah, about the grille. BMW.....why? That being said, the new M2 Competition might be a worthy addition in a couple of years. I am liking almost everything I see and read about it.
Jaguar Land Rover cutting 5k jobs. Half my street to be made redundant as it's hitting management roles here. Bit shit after their Gaydon expansion and the all the good work they did with ensuring the infrastructure was decent around that area.
By Smokey Go To PostKibner when u taking the beast on a road tripProbably later this month. I'm about to take it in for its first fuel fill-up. lol
e: i'm driving so conservatively right now, that I average between 28-30 mpg on it 😂
The Supra is officially revealed:

Not feeling those canards on the that front fascia. Also the back reminds me of the Q60. From the side it looks like a Z3.
I like the side profile of the Supra. The front and rear are too fussy though. Interesting that this reveal looks like it was either a mistake or a calculated leak as the original Twitter page / post is already missing.
I love the aesthetics of monster truck tires. No idea why. Maybe just good childhood memories with my dad and atv's and r/c cars.
So I read about that HKS R33 that they rebuilt. Back in the day that R33 use to run 0-300 km/h runs on Yatabe.
By reilo Go To PostIt's the new 2020 7-Series Concept, but oh god at that grill.
It's not a concept, unfortunately. This is the facelift of the current car. What you see is a production car.
Resume your weeping.
My next Cars and Coffee is in the morning, and once again, I'm shitting bricks. This time it's 160 cars confirmed, 800 interested.
We're definitely going to run out of space again. And I just hope no one does anything stupid to get us kicked out.

Did you guys see the new Supra pics and info dump? https://www.toyota.com/upcoming-vehicles/gr-supra/ ~$50k starting for the I6 version (I don't think the 4 cylinder version pricing has been announced yet). I find the launch edition with the red interior "accents" to be hideous, especially that warmed over Camry steering wheel.
That being said, I don't hate the overall package or what they are trying to accomplish with it. Depending on the real world driving dynamics it might have a nice niche (slotting in between the GT86 cars and a Cayman in terms of pricing and capability).

The wheel looks weird.
The shape of it reminds me more of a Viper than anything.
3400lbs and 335hp for $50k? Uhhh

Some real worry in my town over the Jaguar job cuts. Guys in my street are already looking for new jobs.
The Jaguar thing is not great. AFAIK they're actually doing pretty well on the back of the I-Pace but Brexit is really messing with their stuff. I don't have much to say, except that nationalism is antiquated garbage from a bygone era that needs to die ASAP.
I dunno about the new Supra. Body shape is fussy and overstyled like most Toyota stuff these days, and for an FR platform and that weight they should be shooting for closer to 400 HP at least, considering that it's sandwiched between Mustang/Camaro on one end and TT/Cayman on the other.
Looks like the LC is still ToyoLexus' best coupe for the foreseeable future unless tests reveal a surprise.

I'm waiting to see the reduction of brand new jags on the streets as the managers get laid off and they lose their company cars.
The Supra looks very Stubby. I like it though.
Can’t wait till the day we get them at work for the PDI and I can drive em around the block.

By reilo Go To PostAre you running it?
Yes.
It was a major success. 160+ showed up. A Rolls Royce Cullinan came through. The local Tesla store is a sponsor now, as well as my personal detailer, a body shop, and I've got tons of other inquiries from businesses who would like to be sponsors as well. The meet started at 8AM officially, but I got there at 7:30 and the lot was already packed with Corvettes, Mustangs (blehhh) and Focus RSs. By 8:15 the main lot was basically full, a few Lambos came in, GTRs (one was an Alpha 10), a few Ferraris, Porsches old and new, classic muscle, and even a '33 Ford hotrod. So then other cars (some including exotics) had to park at the overflow lot.
Word was that I crushed another show that was going down the same day about 25 miles away. And some people mentioned they should've come to mine instead.
By Kibner Go To PostIt's taking a lot of willpower not to put 10k miles on the Cayman in the first month.I know the feeling! Our Lexus GX isn't getting driven much because I've been enjoying the Macan a ton. The Lexus used to be our comfortable vehicle but the Macan actually rides better and is quieter at speed (as long as the Sports Exhaust isnt turned on) so it's actually the more comfortable vehicle in my opinion. And then there's that magic Sport Plus button....
Case in point: I had a super frustrating day at work yesterday. Not only were we about 3x busier than normal it seemed like everyone had some kind of problem or issue so by the time I left work I was completely drained and felt pretty low. I drove normally getting out of town but once I got closer to home I hit the Sport Plus button and was smiling and giggling in just about a minute. By the time I got home I was almost completely mentally refreshed. I think I am going to relabel that button "therapy" because that's what it is, for me.
Amazing, matman!
Also, grats, Alpha! Sounds like it was a bit stressful to put together but was totally worth it!

Thanks guys. Definitely was stressful. Had some dickheaded teenage kid in an old ass 2005 300C doing a burnout as he left, caught on video too. He's requesting to join the official group and I've decided nope. Also had to make an announcement discouraging that kind of behavior.
And tomorrow I'm going to visit Tavarish's new shop. Should be fun.

They were the ones causing too much unwanted noise once leaving. Ugh. They live up to their shit reputation.
Now that the Supra’s revealed, I’m sitting here wondering...
Does Toyota not know Lexus exists?
Why didn’t they just use the LC or RC cars as the starting point and idk, buy an inline 6 from BMW?
I’m probably the minority here but to me this is a Supra in name only. All that heritage BS they’re trying to show in the marketing materials just fall flat once you see the car itself.
I understand that they had an agreement with BMW to co-develop the thing but that’s not enough to tell me that Toyota can’t develop it on their own. I mean Honda made the NSX themselves... why can’t the other biggest car manufacturer in the world do the same thing?

This is very close to how I feel. I feel like it's missing something. I look at it and I don't see the same desire for it like the MKIII and MKIV Supras.
By jongkookie Go To PostNow that the Supra’s revealed, I’m sitting here wondering…No, I feel the same way. This is a BMW with a Toyota skin. It isn't a "real" Supra, developed from the ground up by Toyota and in the same spirit those older cars were. But maybe this will help get Toyota back where it needs to be so that they can do that with their next sports car. At least that's what I hope.

I also think it's a case of price. If Toyota had developed the Supra from the gound up it would have cost more and they would have had to sell more to even make a small profit. Bespoke sports cars are a tough sell for most makers these days and by doing it this way BMW and Toyota share the risk. I'm not saying I like it but I keep hoping that Toyota will become more like that company from the 90's that had several cool cars and seemed to understand drivers.
The new big grille doesn't work right on the sedans and is particularly egregious on the 7 series. Looks pretty good on the X5 though, helps it be more truck-ish.
And yeah, one more vote for the Supra being technically a BMW. Which is a shame on the one hand, but then it might still turn out to be a great car. I get why they did it but it kinda craps on their own sports car legacy.

I went to Tavarish's shop today, we hung out for over 2 hours, including his bud Andrew. The car being hidden underneath his covers is laughably hilarious. But I saw the toasted Ferrari, as well as the Bentley. He's going to sell the Bentley once it's finished, which I think is a shame - he should keep it. But he's going to be taking a road trip to Cali to pick up a very orange car and trailer it back. That's a total of 5000 miles. He's probably going to publicly debut the Lambo at my next Cars & Coffee, and I might be getting a new venue for it up the street at a friend's cafe. Crossing fingers.
Anyway, the updated 7-series has a pig nose, the grille reaches up into the hood now. That's insane. I wonder what it'd look like blacked out, though.
I agree about the Supra being better off using the IS or RC chassis with a Lexus cabin. At that point, all they would've needed was the B58 motor, but everything else would've been Toyota through-and-through. This car simply feels like a cop-out to shut the enthusiasts up.

Electric F-150, y'all

All I know is it better be called an F-150 Lightning and go full on Bro setup. You know, with a power inverter-generator bed "toolbox" option in the back. Also a clamshell frunk workbench with optional beer cooler. Gotta hook that DJ table up and offer party favors somehow. You know, liquor in the front, party in the rear!

(Reuters) - Tesla Inc said on Friday it would cut thousands of jobs to rein in costs as it plans to increase production of lower-priced versions of its crucial Model 3 sedan, sending its shares down as much as 10 percent.
Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said the need for lower-priced versions of Model 3 will become even greater from July, when the U.S. tax credit again drops in half, adding $1,875 to its price tag, and again at the end of the year when it goes away entirely. On the tax-cut thing: car manufacturers coming into the EV game just now will have the full $7500 tax credit available to them for the first 250,000 vehicles sold.

By Lunatic Go To PostNew Grand Tour is out lads.
I thought it was hilarious and much better than before.
Got the 370Z dyno-tuned today and ART Pipes installed. We never did a baseline stock dyno because I already had the Z1 true cold air intakes installed. Now we did the ART Pipes (resonated test pipe, no more catalytic converters). We used a Dynojet AWD dyno, a somewhat heartbreaker/low-ish reading dyno. Other friendlier dynos have shown my mods to net around 320WHP. AWD dynos are calibrated differently and thus usually show about 22% drivetrain loss.
-Baseline bolt-ons before tune was 292WHP peak.
-Final was 304WHP.
-12WHP peak gain just tuning the ECU to make the most out of the intakes and pipes. But there were gains as much as 20WHP (and torque) seen in parts of the powerband, which is a major key.
The rest of my exhaust is completely stock, and the Y-pipe is basically the most restrictive component of a Z's exhaust (cats not withstanding). So I might get a y-pipe down the line and call it a day. Overall, my car would've dyno'd around 270WHP stock. And we ended up with 304WHP peak.

I bet it sounds good too, nice and loud!
