Why are you only looking at American cars? They're old and outdated. The 300 has been the same car for nearly 10 years now. It's like buying an iPhone 4 today and being impressed by it.
This Mitsubishi Outlander Sport might take the crown for “worst rental ever” from the Toyota Yaris. Tall order, but I think it’s pretty close 😂
Has anyone driven a Toyota 86 before? it seems to be a competitor with the Miata if you want something similar with with a backseat and more trunk space. This review makes it seem pretty fun and I hadn't really heard many people talk about it before: https://www.caranddriver.com/toyota/86
It appears to also be known as the Subaru BRZ.

Crazy overhyped and underdelivered and overpriced. Can't believe it's a $30,000 car and they never capitalized on it with a turbo-4 TRD/STI version or attempted to refresh it in any meaningful way.
It's no wonder the Supra supplanted it so quickly by moving upmarket.

By data Go To PostAny tips for cleaning the inside of a car?Microfiber cloths, ph neutral cleaners. Meguiar is usually a good brand. I’m not the biggest fan of Dallas, probably because I only ever come here for training in Plano but I will say that it’s a car town, big time. I’ve seen 5 or 6 911s including a vintage Turbo, a couple Panameras, a GLE 63, a CLS63 and a 550, several BMW M3 and 4s, a Mustang GT350R and a ton of other very nice rides and I’ve only been here 2 days.
By Christberg Go To PostYeah, that Speedster is a thing of beauty. Not sure I would have gone yellow but still…
If I'm getting something like that, I'm getting a hot as color that stands the fuck out. Yellow is my favorite hot rod color honestly. Grays and blacks are for standard boring consumer vehicles. Fuck ... I don't even like red on anything but hot rods and trucks.
Speaking of red hot rods, I think I'm going to need to get a good picture of my car when I get back home and change my avatar to it. RIP AD's only playoff series win.

Wish it wasn't that dirty because of Karl the Fog.
Funny story, I thought Karl the Fog was just this inside joke of SF people. But when I was there a few months ago, I overheard people at a bar, who I assume are locals due to the SF Giants gear they have on, talk about Karl as matter of factly, totally devoid of irony. It was something along the lines of "Did you see when Karl went over the Mission earlier? Felt good man." "Yeah, I was in (some area south of SF I can't remember) earlier and it was nice."
That said, I'd love to live there. I basically lived in downtown for a week coz I was there for work, walking from Union Square to the Moscone every morning and night... and it felt like home seeing a lot of Filipinos and being able to buy Filipino food off the Metreon food court or Uber Eats lol.
The BART was shockingly nice too, I didn't get bothered by people and made it all the way to Daly City for some Jollibee lmao.
I agree with this lol.
Stealth is nice but if I'm gonna get something ridiculous, I might as well stand out.

Oh, don’t get it twisted. If I was buying a car like this it’d be in a super flashy color, too. I’m just not sold on how the yellow blows out the character lines, particularly on the buttresses. Might be picture lighting, might just be if I’m blowing 300 large on a car I want a nonstandard statement color.
I’d probably go with something darker for this, like Brewster Green or Carmine Red. Maybe see if you can paint to sample some racing stripes.
By reilo Go To PostI had no idea we had a Jollibee 😂
But yes, Filipino culture is pretty abundant in SF.
Man y'all have at least three, one in Daly and two in South SF iirc lol.
Meanwhile there's a growing Filipino population here in Dallas but the closest Jollibee is in Houston. 🤦♂️
I went to the one in South SF above a hill overlooking SF Bay and it was fucking beautiful. The roads were nice too and if I had known ahead of time, I might've gotten a rental instead of taking the BART and Lyft.
But yeah, SF honestly felt like home to me... even more so than LA. I mean the Walgreens in Union Square carries Filipino instant ramen, that shit blew my mind lmao.

Design boss Adrian van Hooydonk told Autocar that's exactly what he asked his team to achieve.huh, okay
He pointed out BMW is a brand that has both customers and loyal fans, and he acknowledged not every word spoken about the firm's latest design language has been kind. However, he reminded the magazine that buyers have generally given the facelifted 7 a warm reception because it looks new, rather than like a progression of the outgoing model. Revolution, not evolution, is the order of the day in BMW's design center, and this approach will permeate the cars released during the early 2020s.
"As a company, you have to keep moving. The minute you start standing still, you become an easy target. The market is very competitive now, more than ever. But, the hardest thing to do is make changes while you are successful. If you are no longer successful, people immediately start saying you need to make changes, but then you are in panic mode," he explained.
At the very least, the Concept 4 Series Coupe (pictured) signals the second-generation 4 Series due out in 2020 won't be a shrunken copy of the 3 Series it's based on.

Porsche has quickly kept its promise of releasing cheaper Taycan variants, detailing a new, 4S-badged version of the electric sedan that slots near the middle of the range.
While Porsche aficionados will instantly recognize the 4S nameplate from other models like the 911 and the Panamera, the Taycan puts a unique spin on it by breaking it down into two powertrains. The regular 4S uses a 79.2-kilowatt-hour, 1,221-pound lithium-ion battery pack the company calls Performance Battery. Buyers can pay extra for a 92.3-kilowatt-hour, 1,389-pound pack called Performance Battery Plus; it's the same unit found in the costlier Turbo and Turbo S models.
Regardless of battery size, the 4S offers through-the-road all-wheel drive from a pair of electric motors, and it takes 3.8 seconds to reach 60 mph from a stop. Top speed checks in at 155 mph.
On sale now across the nation, the 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S starts at $105,150 when fitted with the Performance Battery, and $111,730 with the Performance Battery Plus. Both figures include a rather hefty $1,350 destination charge. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020. Range estimates will be released closer to that launch date. That took NO time, damn Porsche.
By reilo Go To PostOh wow the new Mirai looks legitimately nice
Said the same thing ... what’s the hang up with hydrogen in the first place. Was the first just too ugly?
It's pretty cost-prohibitive. California is the only state that even sells the Mirai and the only state with enough hydrogen infrastructure. It's also a bit more difficult to market for whatever reason. But, at some point it might hit critical mass and become viable ala the Prius.
It seems like it would be a quicker path to clean vehicles since battery tech isn’t making much progress. I know Fuck all about the tech tho so ...

I fucking love driving my Cayman holy shit. I'm not even really doing anything special with it. It just vibes with me incredibly well. I do kinda wish the engine/exhaust noise was lower pitched and that it supported Android Auto. There being such a big gap between when I can shift from first to second gear at low rpm's is kind annoying (and from second to third to a much lesser extent). But that's the extent of my complaints.

I test drove the Jaguar I-Pace today. My first time ever driving an EV car, and I walked away quite impressed. I thought about it too, and while an EV could never replace my love for larger gasoline V8s, V10s, and V12 in sports cars, I think they make absolute sense as far as commuter cars go.
Let's take a look at a Mercedes-Benz GLE 300 4Matic. In base form, it's worth $57K MSRP. But a base Benz is pretty barebones compared to the competition, especially the I-Pace. So let's say $60K. If you've ever experienced the awfulness that is the 4-cylinder 2.0T that Mercedes uses, you'll know it drives and sounds pretty poor. For that kind of money, to lack that much refinement, the proposition just doesn't add up. So why not take the worst part of such an expensive car and get rid of it? And here is where a properly priced EV shines...
For just over $60K (after tax credits), you have the I-Pace. Very well equipped in entry level form, as well, with a lot of standard options. Driving it I can understand why it received Car of the Year 2018 honors earlier this year. It seems like the perfectly packaged car, without a whole lot of compromise. You have acceptable range, fantastic power, wonderful agility (it really does handle), and unlike a Tesla, the I-Pace has a good looking interior and exterior, with superior build quality inside out. So this is the car you'd ideally want as your comfortable luxury daily driver. Because it's an EV, refinement points go way up from not having any drivetrain noises, which is in contrast to a luxury car having a coarse underpowered 4-cylinder trying to move a 5000lb boat and sounding like it's fallen victim to numerous hernias.
I still don't think I can get behind EV sports cars, on the other hand, because as much fun as the I-Pace was, it really does lack a soul. It felt like an incredibly cool appliance. An appliance I'd definitely like to own, but an appliance nonetheless. And there's really nothing too sexy about washing machines.
So, the I-Pace: it's functional, it's sleek, and it's powerful. But it doesn't stir the soul on an emotional level. And for a daily driver, that's fine.

I think that for the next decade, the sports car market will move towards hybrids. Something like the BMW i8 (although hopefully with more cylinders and less speaker engine noise)
And I'm very much okay with that! Cars like the P1, LaFerrari, 918, and NSX have proved that is the future and it's awesome.
I drove an i-Pace back in September as well (and I thought I posted about it here but I guess I didn't) and Alpha pretty much summed up my thoughts about it.
The only problem I had with it was the overly aggressive kickback it does when you let go of the go pedal and the regenerative braking kicks in, but apparently you could change it in the car settings to make it more softer (I didn't know you could until after I came back with the car lol).
What I also liked is the noise it makes in the cabin, it's some kind of noise/pitch that follows your speed so it becomes more high pitched the faster you go and lower pitched as you slow down. It was kinda unsettling at first but I ended up liking it coz it felt like some nice driver feedback.
But yeah, it's very nice as an appliance it just needs some soul to it so enthusiasts would get on board.
On the other hand, I think I'm on board the EV hype train tbh... but it'd have to be under $40K for me to jump ship lol. $60K for a EV Jaguar is nice but that's also $60K for an appliance that doesn't really stir your soul... so it's kind of a tough sell for me.

Mercedes-AMG will send a clear message that it is adapting to modern demands with the upcoming third-generation C63 by forgoing its long-standing V8 power in favour of an advanced four-cylinder hybrid drivetrain that develops more than 500bhp.The next gen C63 is ditching the V8 for a 4-cyl hybrid? Wtf
The new C63 will be the first in a number of new AMG models earmarked to receive an electrified version of Mercedes’ new turbocharged 2.0-litre M139 engine when it goes on sale in early 2022.
The four-wheel-drive rival to the Audi RS4 and BMW M3 is already undergoing intensive development at AMG’s Affalterbach engineering headquarters.

.
Other than the desire to hear the sound / ruble of an engine, EV motors are better for all cars including non commuter cars. Electric engines shit on gas engine efficiency / torque. In a hypothetical where charging and energy storage improves quite a bit, there will literally be no reason to ever own a gas engine other than nostalgia.
I never understood performance enthusiasts desire to cling onto old tech just because it's what they're used to. This goes doubly for those who would prefer manual over auto when performance auto trannies are out performing their manual counterparts. Yes yes, the feel of the drive, it's still a worse performing vehicle.
Driving an automatic is boring in comparison. I wouldn't have gotten a Cayman if speed was a primary concern since there are faster cars for less money. I want to use a stick shift and clutch pedal. I would not be enjoying my car nearly as much if it wasn't a manual.
It is more engaging and exciting since there is more for me to keep track of and more skills to master without being overwhelming. It's like I'm playing a minigame with the rev matching and optimizing gear shifts and what not. It's fun.
