Looks beautiful! It basically runs the same motor that is in the F-Type, right? That 5.0 supercharged engine is a beast.
By AlphaSnacks Go To PostTook this recently after the wheels came back from being refinished (properly this time, blasted down and baked). Car needed a bath and it just looked too slick after the wash.Nice!
I also ordered a few parts for it…vroom vroom and aesthetic. Car will be making 620HP with 2 little pieces: tune and pulley. It's running 11s now in the 1/4 mile, and after the tune it'll be 10s. Pretty exciting stuff.

Yeah, identical in every way. 510HP in the XKR, 550 in the XKRS..

So due to changing emission regulations, Jaguar is gonna be making a Turbo Inline-6 to replace the Supercharged V6. I can't wait for them to have a better sounding engine than BMW's own inline-6 lol.

How is it that relatively tiny Jaguar makes some of the best sounding engines / exhausts from the factory? Whatever it is that they are doing, they need to keep it up.
By shinshoryuken Go To PostLamborghini will be going hybrid for their next cars. This will be interesting. As will Ferrari by 2022.
There's too much performance to be gained (as well as increased efficiency) by going hybrid to ignore it. Once someone jumps in and shows it can be done then, just like dominoes, everyone else falls in line or gets left behind. As long as they still look and sound awesome I have no problems with hybridization.

So the water pump on my pop’s ‘02 Allroad went kaput a few weeks ago and we contacted a shop for a quote and he told us he’d send a guy to come look at it. This dude seriously showed up at 10:30pm to take a quick look at the car. Lol wtf.
Various outlets report the Polestar 1 will get a $155,000 starting sticker price in the United States. That's cheaper than its retail price in both Europe (155,000 euros, which would equate to $188,800 USD) and China (1.45 million yuan, or $229,200 USD), where it will be built, according to Carscoops. Details on the monthly subscription rate are still forthcoming.phew

Is that good or a bad thing?

In a world where the Germans are overexpanding its portfolio (and selling like hotcakes), Ford is ... turning into Mitsubishi?

By NinjaFridge Go To PostFord to stop selling every car in North America but the Mustang and Focus Active
Sadly the average person these days prefers crossover suv's. Even the Focus active is considered a crossover. I guess that even means no more Focus ST. Still surprised they won't even have a 4 door sedan. Though honestly its not like I was going to buy a Ford anyway, so it really shouldn't concern me.
Hot damn! What else can I say about that? We need an exhaust video stat!
As for Ford killing their sedans, I think it's dumb and short sighted but let's be honest here... their sedans/hatches fucking sucked. The Japanese and Koreans were trying to make their econoboxes look and feel upmarket meanwhile the fools in Detroit kept fighting for a piece of the pie that was stolen a looooong time ago. GM is the only one that saw where the Asians were heading and tried to join the club(albeit a little too late), FCA completely gave up the Dart years ago(did anybody even notice that it's completely gone?), meanwhile Ford turned their attention to the Mustang and trucks, leaving these sedans behind to rot.
I've ranted about the shitty interior Ford supplied the FoST and that was just part of the problem imo. Nobody in their right mind is going to buy a Focus after they've sat in a Corolla/Civic/Elantra/Forte. The Fords(minus the Fusion) look like they came from the 90s whereas the other brands look like they were at least made after 2005. IMO I think a lot of the current buyers are just loyal Ford fans or people who have no choice as its the only thing that'll fit their budget.
Anyway, as said I do think it's dumb and short sighted but it might work out for them... CUV's are just a couple of MPG's away from sedans and for some reason Americans seem to think bigger car = more value or whatever. If the predicted recession does hit though, then I think Ford might take a step back from this plan coz even with the positives of a CUV... I think at the end of the day the combined power of expensive gasoline, marketshare of other brands and rising interest rates are gonna come back to bite them in the ass.

Yeah I'm shocked and a little saddened by what Ford is doing (I grew up in an all Ford household so even though I give them lots of crap I still have some fond memories) but I can understand why. If you are losing money on some things (and Ford says they lose money on the Focus, Fusion and Fiesta) and make money on others (trucks make bank for them) then why wouldn't you double down on what's working well?
I wouldn't buy a Ford either at this point (ok, maybe a GT350 someday) but it's still sort of shocking for one of the Big Three to basically come out and say "passenger cars are dead to us at this point, here's a nice truck/suv instead".

It will be interesting to see what kind of effect this will have on Ford in Europe and the rest of the world.
So it officially begins. My first test drive in the hunt for "the next car" will be this coming Saturday morning at 10am. I honestly still don't know exactly where I want to fall on the whole sport/luxury scale so I will be trying to get as many test drives and as much seat time as I can between now and whenever the garage is finished and I have my down payment ready.
I'm starting with one of my hero cars and something that is definitely on the more extreme end of the sport side of the sport/luxury scale. It's a 2017 CPO F-Type R and I know I will love the looks, sound and personality but am not sure how I will feel about the interior, tech and comfort. This particular example is a convertible, which I don't want, but it should still be useful for evaluation purposes. The color combination and options are pretty much perfect for me though. http://www.jaguarnorthatlanta.com/certified/Jaguar/2017-Jaguar-F-TYPE-7706682f0a0e0ae929f9e31bca1c90f5.htm

I hit up my sister in law who works at Ford Corporate in Finance, and yeah, she said they lose money on every car except Fusion and they barely make money on that. Guess they're having some big town hall about it at corporate today too. But I think they're continuing to sell cars in Europe where she said they're profitable.

But you can basically make out what it looks like and I think this one will look great.
By reilo Go To PostDo it, get that coupeYep, as long as I get along with the seats (which can be an issue in some of these types of cars) then I can't imagine that I wouldn't like it. I injured myself exercising (feel free to laugh) a couple of years back and now certain car seats cause me pain in my right hip after a period of time which goes from mild to downright excruciating depending on the length of time in the seat. It's one of the reasons I am looking to get out of the MX-5 sooner than I had originally thought.

Whats the purpose of the car? Daily driver or weekend car?
For me exterior/interior color is very important. Never compromise. You will be the one looking at it everyday.
Hrmm, I'd also look into how you are adjusting your seats. I have problems with my psoas where my lower back will hurt including my entire hip area after even an hour of driving, especially my left side because of the constant clutch engagement.
I fixed it by making sure my seating position was more horizontal rather than perpendicular. We as humans are meant to be bipedal vertical beings, not be sitting down at a 90 degree angle. So the closer you can comfortably get above that 90 degree angle while sitting during driving, the better. It will alleviate a lot of the tension.
I'd also look into talking to a PT of how to fix that by strengthening the surrounding muscles, but that's another topic.
