and all this "anyone on the right is the devil" thing is just as ridiculous especially considering their party got railroaded decades ago. imagine the democrats who got fed up with clinton, gore, and obama (they don't exist, surely! pls vote)
if you're framing politics to within literally less than two years then you're being proudly disingenuous imo
Brushes aren't even in the same set, especially at this point. Roy Moore voters already removed whatever veil of naivete his base might have been able to move under. How many Alabamas is it going to take, before it's okay to be a fifth as critical as them, as you want folks to be of the Democratic party (in which you're right, they should be towards the dems)?
People aren't even going hard on them, but I can't watch one news piece anywhere without people giving a thousand and one reasons why they bang with Trump and Bannon's minions, outside of the huge one. It's either that or deflecting to Trump's non-political past as a dem, to scurry past criticizing this version of the GOP.
You can be critical of everyone equally.

I've been voting for 12 years now, so please don't try to hit me with the "you've only been paying attention since '16" angle.
I'm not of the opinion that all Republicans are nazi sympathizing shitstain motherfuckers, but that those who voted for Trump showed that they are willing to throw people of color, women, lgbt people, even national security under the bus to achieve what? tax cuts? *coal jobs?*
As I said previously, it was clear as day what Trump was, and that's why i'm not going to kumbaya with people that voted for him that say now "oh, yeah, I guess he's bad because now he's doing all the bad shit he said he was going to do".
And this is not a purely partisan reaction. I didn't consider Romney, McCain, even Bush voters to be irredeemable. Which leads me to this:
Every person you vote for is a compromise. I wasn't entirely happy with voting for Obama in 2012 (I really did not like Obama waiting so long for congressional approval for the Libya intervention), and in 2008 and 2016, I supported Kucinich (UGH) then Obama, and for a time Sanders, in the primaries purely as an Anybody-but-Clinton voter. Iraq soured me on her.
When Bush was reelected, I cried for a couple days (I was 16 and this was when I actually started paying attention to politics, so sue me). But we had just suffered a historic terrorist attack, people that voted for him were still good, they were just scared, we can reach them still. Right? 2006 gave me some hope.
But 2016 rolls around and it turns out Republicans really are crazy enough to nominate a man that thinks Mexican immigrants are rapists and murderers, and people of Mexican heritage shouldn't be judges, and that making a bunch of money and employing people is the same as sacrificing your life in combat, global warming is a Chinese hoax, "what's a David Duke?", firing weapons at other countries wouldn't start wars, why can't we just nuke ISIS, the President is a Kenyan oh wait now he's not, you can just grab 'em by the pussy because you're a star, and he's just so much more humble than you could possibly imagine.
Trump voters saw all that racism, all that sheer lunacy, and decided it was acceptable. For a court seat. A tax cut. Coal. And this isn't even counting the ones that considered this the main appeal.
When Trump announced, I thought it was hilarious. When he won the nomination, I was excited. I thought even the people that voted for Romney, McCain, Bush would be too smart, too good, too decent to vote for this man in large enough numbers to get anywhere close to the Presidency.
They proved me wrong.
I think that's what gets me the most. They were willing to throw so much away for so goddamn little. Of course, they don't see it as giving much of anything away. What they receive, they prize more than immigrants being thrown out of only country they've ever known, fair elections, black lives, gay rights...
Regarding drone strikes, I think of leaders trying to weigh the cost of lives against the risk of more lives. Kill several civilians today to possibly save dozens in the future? I don't know that I would say no if I were put in the position. Nothing about how Obama speaks or behaves presents himself as a person that would just be like "oh bombs? cool throw 'em wherever!" And yes, I'm aware we did a lot of bombing under Obama.
But what moral quandary is there over racism and sexual assault?
There isn't any, we're just worth less than what they actually care about.
So don't take my dislike of Trump voters as a means of acting out that "my side" lost an election. It's just the realization that they don't care.
Anyways, I'm sorry if this was rambling and wall o' texty. Articulating my thoughts isn't a strong suit of mine.

By TheHunter Go To PostStill waiting breh. You've wrote your own tautology. Someone supporting Trump automatically makes them a bad person so in your mind it is impossible. I could theoretically provide foster parents, nurses or charity workers that support Trump but you will blanket them as bad people.
By Kibner Go To PostHe's asking about voter turnout for the past election compared to previous ones.Ah.
As I remember, she was way above Obama's 2012 numbers in Florida, it's just that Trump's turnout skyrocketed. In PA and MI, she did only slightly worse than Obama, enough to have defeated Romney by comparison, but once again, skyrocketing R turnout. WI is the outlier, Trump got 4k more votes than Romney. Clinton fell 240 fucking thousand from Obama 2012. Jesus. I had to look it up to make sure I remembered that right and it was WORSE than I remembered.
It’s a blanket statement, but everyone who voted for Trump showed they were explicitly prepared to ignore all the horrific things he had said and done and the fear he presented for the future.
That is not to say they voted for him because of that. But they were okay with putting basic decency aside for their own gains.

I mean honestly, if we're speaking in the now, and not the mess that was this past election season, what is left to discuss? If you're supporting Trump in 2018, you and everyone else knows what the deal is. More than likely, you're not one of his billionaire friends, and that means he doesn't give a damn about you in general: doubly so, if you're poor and uneducated. You're one step above trash (read: minority) in his eyes. Media pundits have to score straight 10's in mental gymnastics, to avoid calling him a bigot, when even Republicans are calling him racist trash (as hilarious as that shit is). Not to mention anything involving women. He came from his eugenics loving, klan member following, daddy's dick. The apple didn't fall far from or off that tree, and here we are. This isn't hyperbole, it's a fact.
At minimum, in 2018, if you're poor and still bang with Trump and the current version of the GOP, you don't care about your own survival (I wonder why). At worst, well...we all know the answer. It only gets worse when you climb up the economic ladder.
