By rerixo Go To Postyeah hitman devs are gonna be in trouble, i wonder if microsoft would consider buying them, they put out good work but not to good sales, and they're a studio of like 300…..I don't know if there's value in purchasing IO since Square still owns Hitman and they just license it.
By rodeoclown Go To PostI don't know if there's value in purchasing IO since Square still owns Hitman and they just license it.iirc when io seperated from square the ip assets were split, square got kany & lynch and some other stuff, but io got hitman
IO was really bloated at their biggest (at the time they even outsourced a crazy amount of stuff to Asia at the same time. I was at a wedding with a guy who's job was purely to set up Asian outsource teams, when they were still owned by SE), but I believe they slimmed down a lot since then. Latest number I can find on google is 170. and yeah, IO do own the Hitman IP entirely. They said so in an official statement on their website.
Performance:
- One observation: Base PS4 has consistent 20 FPS with instances of 15 FPS for a long stretch
- Same location tested on Pro/Base XBO stuck to 30 FPS in same location.
- Xbox X on same location went down to 15 to 10 FPS.
- Another observed location has PS4 Pro drop to 20 FPS while OG PS4 remains at 30.
Bethesda.

Bethesda.
Blaming their refusal to move on from that shit engine is misguided though, and probably sexist too as the cinematic framerate makes it more accessible to women.
Meanwhile in the Fallout 76 noclip video, one of the programmers says he during the development of the game was taking out stuff that still applied to silt striders from morrowind in the code.
By blackace Go To PostDid Hitman 2 ship with all the missions or are they releasing like 1?All the missions.
By alt sy Go To PostAll the missions.well shit don't know why it's selling so poorly
By blackace Go To Postwell shit don't know why it's selling so poorlynobody cares about hitman/high production stealth games dont do well/released in busy season
By blackace Go To Postwell shit don't know why it's selling so poorlyIt's between red dead redemption 2, Battlefield V, and Fallout 76.
The marketing budget and exposure it gives probably dwarfs any of IO's attempts.
By alt sy Go To Postnobody cares about hitman/high production stealth games dont do well/released in busy seasonDidnt Dishonored do well under the same conditions?
By blackace Go To PostDidnt Dishonored do well under the same conditions?Dishonored did so well that the entire franchise got shelved and now Arkane is working on a MP/GaaS game.
By DY_nasty Go To Postanyone play disgaea? i'm seeing some of the titles on sale on steam and i've never tried the franchise at allIt's... OK? Best reason to play it is for the slapstick comedy. Gameplay is interesting but in no way balanced. Lots of content and optional grinding to be had. Art style is such that you probably won't want anyone else in the room as you play.
whats it like?
By alt sy Go To PostDishonored did so well that the entire franchise got shelved and now Arkane is working on a MP/GaaS game.Dishorned wasn't one the better selling games on release? I might be remembering incorrectly

I’m a fan of the series and didn’t even know the sequel was out this month until I saw the Digital Foundry video. Zero exposure
By DY_nasty Go To Postanyone play disgaea? i'm seeing some of the titles on sale on steam and i've never tried the franchise at allJapanese humor, decent gameplay. A bit repetitive and all, but I enjoyed some of them.
whats it like?
By JJJasper Go To PostDisgaea games are all bad don’t waste your time.
ea's mtx revenue says otherwise, they just don't like good games
people spending 200 bucks on cards for 2k and fifa but can't find some place cheap to buy hitman 2

It's a stupid time to release Hitman. It is and will always be a niche game, we had a ton of big name releases in the past few weeks and there's Black Friday sales.
I could get God of War + Spider Man for almost the same price of Hitman 2, it's a tough sell.

By Red Blaster Go To Postdishonored 1 did okay but dishonored 2 was a pretty large bombWhich is depressing because Dishonored 2 is fucking amazing
By blackace Go To Postkeep saying games like this would clean up in June or JulyYeah, there's always a drought in the summer. It's viable, no idea why Square didn't release DQX in NA during July or August rather than the same day as Spiderman and 2K .
I think the last of us released in June. Wouldn't be surprised if TLOU2 comes out next summer.
it can't be stupidity, there's too many publishers releasing games around this game for no reason that we can see or figure out
there must be a reason to do it, it can't be just stupidity

On PC it was fucking terrible. Refunded it due to just how bad the performance was
By Hitch Go To PostWas surprised by the jaggies when I watched a video earlier, it looks a bit like a stretched out 3DS gamethat's pretty much what it is, it's the same engine. but I don't think it looks that bad, well the environments and pokemon look okay at least, it's the character models that look trash but that's their weird art style that won't be fixed in the next game with new engine
legit didnt know hitman 2 was out, shouldve released in like july where there was nothing else going on
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostOn PC it was fucking terrible. Refunded it due to just how bad the performance wasRan fine for me, git gud.
By blackace Go To Postfeels like a pride thing…I mean just take a look at what SEGA released in a short period of time.
Valkyria Chronicles 4, Shenmue 1/2, Kiwami 2, Fist of the Northstar and Two Point Hospital.
Two Point Hospital sold well, but the rest of them could have released far earlier, to escape all these heavy hitters.
Just weird decisions all around, DQXI is another one of questionable releases by a japanese dev.
By NinjaFridge Go To PostRan fine for me, git gud.when did you buy it? At launch it had mad issues.... which is sad considering they did great sales on Steam for 1

Black Friday at the end of the month and Christmas shopping. For Battlefield EA wants as much sales as they can get too before the fiscal year is out so they're taking the risk of releasing it in November because they already delayed the game.
Not to mention that the Battlefield series is a biannual franchise at this point.
By blackace Go To Postfeels like a pride thing…feels more like suits who make decisions based on quarterly earnings and don't understand that you can't funnel releases around this time
By rvy Go To Postfeels more like suits who make decisions based on quarterly earnings and don't understand that you can't funnel releases around this timeThat's kinda it they decided that x budget is a holiday release
By rerixo Go To Postiirc when io seperated from square the ip assets were split, square got kany & lynch and some other stuff, but io got hitmanNo, they don't own Hitman. Square gives them an exclusive license to develop games with it.
Owner Name:So what good is the studio without the only IP they've worked on that matters? If the game bombs (when) and they need a buyer, it's really not an attractive package. They'll probably close.
