Overlord is basically Call of Duty: Zombies the movie done right. Had a really fun time with it. Pretty well acted, good pace to it, good action.
The writer of an inflammatory interview which claimed Ennio Morricone branded the film director Quentin Tarantino a 'cretin' has admitted to misquoting the composer.
The interview initially claimed the 90-year-old Italian maestro insulted Tarantino and said he only made 'trash' films, before comparing him unfavourably to a number of Hollywood directing greats.
Playboy Germany initially defended freelance writer Marcel Anders and the interview but quickly acknowledged that, unbeknown to them, Anders 'falsified quotes'.
The monthly magazine have now described it 'an intolerable breach of journalistic ethics' and promptly filed a criminal complaint against the writer.
That’s one way to never be a writer again.

Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Television has cut a deal with Amazon Studios to produce eight feature-length thrillers to run worldwide on the streaming service.https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/jason-blum-blumhouse-television-amazon-eight-thrillers-1203028789/
Amazon said the projects will come from filmmakers of diverse backgrounds. Blumhouse scored a big hit last year with the success of theatrical release “Get Out,” which hailed from director Jordan Peele. The Amazon projects are envisioned as “elevated” thrillers or stories with dark themes.
I hope they really mean worldwide. Still haven't got The Big Sick or even Manchester By The Sea in Portugal. Amazon Video Prime is a bit thrash here.
Christopher Robin just warmed by heart. It's a weird movie, the first act is a bit depressing, Christopher even goes to war and is a bit of a cunt at first but Pooh is lovable as always.
It ends up going into a cliche territory but the nostalgia of seeing the whole gang is too strong.

In wake of AT&T/Time Warner being anti-competitive cunts (who saw that coming, FCC, you pos? Everyone? oh), and shutting down FilmStruck and DramaFever because they would compete with their upcoming streaming service (???), Criterion has decided to launch their own streaming service come Spring 2019:

Widows is a lot more than the title implies. Only in the credits did I realize Gillian Flynn co-wrote it involved and it makes a lot of sense that she was.
Widows is really damn good. Also The Night Comes for Us is awesome, don't listen to what that other guy said.
Suspiria is really good. Some beautiful cinematography, solid acting performances all around (Chloe Moretz being the lone miscast). Sound design & OST were good too but I think Id prefer if Thom Yorke's voice was used less.
Overstays it's welcome slightly imo. It has a bit too much 'arthouse' self indulgence to recommend to just anyone and some of the death scenes are absolutely brutal to watch.

Overlord is a piece of shit that forgets everything it was building up to and abandons its horror premise to become an action flick
The Clovehitch Killer is a surprisingly good thriller. Dylan McDermott gives what is probably the best performance of his career as a religious family man whose son starts to suspect he might be a serial killer.
It goes into some cliché territory at times but it does enough to keep things interesting right until the end.

Buster Scruggs is godly. Coens are just... chef kiss. A massive big fuck you to the idea of American Exceptionalism and Manifest Destiny. Hilarious, gruelling, exciting, challenging, gorgeous to look at, beautifully acted. Great fucking movie.
Widows was really good too. Best Zimmer score in ages, performances from Valhalla from Debicki and Kaluuya. One breathtaking tracking shot that tells more of a story in two minutes than most films do in two hours.
i think i’m the only person in the world who would rank the buster scruggs stories in the order they’re told

Why did Leonardo DiCaprio care so much about the Oscar, enough to stat chase after one? I mean, what's so special about it, that he absolutely had to have one, that his own talent couldn't continue speaking for itself? Why not just continue letting the Academy make a mockery and farce of itself? You have to wonder just how much artistic integrity DiCaprio undermined of himself, just to finally win a ring.
In regards to the lion king I think for me it's being excited to watch this with my son in the cinema, can't wait.

Speaking to my mum about the Lion King trailer and I told her how James Earl Jones was the only recurring actor. She didn't know his name so I said he was the voice of Mufasa and Darth Vader. She then told me she didn't think Darth Vader spoke in the Star Wars, just hissed and breathed. So I showed her the most famous scene in Star Wars
"Wasn't he the baddie?"
"Luke Skywalker? Was that the one played by Ian McEwan"
"Did he just have his hand chopped off?"
"Has he just fell to his death?"

I respect you. I would consider preferential processing rates.
Widows was fascinating. McQueen continues to showcase and expand his range. He's excellent at getting the top-most performances out of his actors. The movie was perfectly cast, and Kaluuya stole the show -- might be my favorite performance of his yet. It's less of a thriller and heist movie and more of a character understudy than I expected, but definitely worth seeing.

How do you even direct this?
"I need 1:1 cg shots from everything from the animated film."
By FortuneFaded Go To PostStill remember watching this in the theatre when it came out. Crazy how vivid my memory of this is when I was almost 7.
widows was... okay. good performances, but most of it felt like it's been done a thousand times already.

regarding the lion king remake. i agree with the criticism that it looks so realistic, it lacks the charm the original has.
