By HottestVapes Go To PostIt’s so fucking good. That switch in flow and accent in the second verse is perfect.Gives me chills.
By alt sy Go To PostThe bad Jamaican accent was too much for Lupe to overcomeThink he was more mimicking the flow which he nailed.
By Moris Go To PostThe Lupe album SUCT.you stay hatin'
Don't trust anyone saying otherwise, they're the feds.
By unknown Go To Postwhy waste it on easy work, if it was joe budden then he has to be more serious about it but it wasn't. he already won without trying, mgk was literally praising em in his diss song.lol Em washed
By DY_nasty Go To PostYeah this is fireWhat tracks have stood out to you on it?
Moris hurt
I’ve been coming back to WAV Files repeatedly. Not ashamed to say it took multiple days for it to sink in for me.
Definitely the most consistent Lupe album. Just about every track has a throwback to past stuff too or complimentary at least.
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostThis Thug ep…wow. fire.
Is it more slime season or Jeffery young thug?

Off the top of my head,
WAV Files drops a references to a line from Pressure (F&L)
Stack That Cheese is a really on the nose throw back to a Hip Hop Saved My Life (The Cool)
Mural Jr is a reference to Mural (Tetsuo & Youth), but there's a real cleverness to this. Mural on T&Y is the first track on the album, but the theory behind that album was that it was supposed to be listened to in reverse order, making it the last track on the album. Mural Jr actually is the last track on Waves.
XO follows a very familiar verse layout to The instrumental (F&L)
There's more that I'm missing, but nothing is really jumping out to me. The last part of Gold Vs reminded me of Hello/Goodbye (The Cool) but on relistening to it, I think I was just reaching.

It best encapsulates who Lupe Fiasco is as an artist. A rapper who is highly talented as a lyricist but makes some awful decisions music-wise. There's a good album in that 98 minute run time.

There's a masterpiece in those 98 minutes, but Lupe's always been marmite. You either really like him, or don't and there's nothing wrong with that.

Mix of both, really.
By domino Go To Posti read up on the kid that Alan Forever is about. this dude Lupe is something else man.Yeah that was rough.
I can't believe he stuck with the don't ruin the kids/ocean/resurrection for a whole 90+ minutes man... Then I'm the man now at the end.
Fuck

Yeah I read up on that way back when he dropped it. I was surprised he included it on the album. It's really old.

There's one song on this thing that might as well be a Drake song. Like WTF.
Edit: another track that could be an unused Drake demo appears.

So I'm trying to get a friend of mine to broaden his horizon and mix in some hiphop in his music listening. What would you guys say are good albums to recommend someone who's not really into hiphop? Was personally thinking of stuff like De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest en Digable Planets. The easy going jazzy vibes. But there's probably a ton I'm not thinking of.
