By sy kiwami Go To PostEarly indication is that the online is shit. After GTA online in the beginning I wouldn't have expected otherwise.
Check back in a week or 2, would be a lot better I presume (hope).

Gifts should start arriving today and will hit all eligible players by Friday, December 14th.
I like Arthur more than John a lot but I'm enjoying John later in the game the more he dumps on Dutch
By SUPER YARAK Go To Poststill in chapter 4. Do you actually go West as part of the story or is it just there?I'm honestly dreading it if it does become part of the story/stranger missions
There's more than enough of that stuff already. And you just know that one mission will have you following Micah from one corner to the other while he chats shite for an hour
alright lads, it's been two months. the dust has settled or is beginning to settle.
anyway, was it really that good?
(haven't played it yet)

As expected it's pretty damn good, and without some of the annoyances of GTA (mostly the constant unbearable not very funny satire). But it still suffers from R* syndrome of bloat.
Overall one of the best big games of the year for me.

The best narrative and characters Rockstar had yet.
oh and it controls like the retarded offspring of the original resident evil, the witcher 3 and killzone 2.
But it's cool and good. Some truly sensational moments in the game.

Hardly any of the main missions are even memorable, everything is follow person for x minutes, shootbang. high 6/low 7
The (albeit scripted) world is the star.
and my god the controls are awful i never want to boot it up again.

By bud Go To Postalright lads, it's been two months. the dust has settled or is beginning to settle. The characters and voice acting are the best I've ever seen in a video game. Arthur is the most realistic and likable protagonist put in a video game. The graphics are gorgeous and so is the world's art design. So is the audio from the effects to the music. I think a lot of this will be imitated by big budget games in the future without coming close to how Rockstar does it.

The story is decent for its length but it definitely still feels like it drags for a long time and is only really held up by, again, the incredible performances particularly with Arthur and Dutch. The story missions do a great job of using unique looking setpieces but ultimately the problem in the game shows its head quickly, 90% of the encounters feel the same just with different window dressing. There's no variety to the shootouts. The only time the game feels a little different in this aspect is fighting animals, and you almost never fight animals in the main story and barely in the side content.
And the game is fucking depressing. I know it's supposed to be but god damn. Like you can complain about GTA's awful satire but at least it tries to lighten the mood every so often. I played Assassin's Creed Origins prior to this and its no less or more fun to control than that was. Which wasn't. I kind of want to replay Max Payne 3 and see if that feels any better to control.
Think I enjoy the game more in hindsight now I'm thinking about the story and characters rather than playing it.
Watching the epilogue now, which makes me very sad. Always assumed John just bought a fully formed Beecher's Hope with gang gold

Just started this, I'm on chapter 2.
There is too much to do, too many systems to keep track of... anyone have good advice/tips?

Change a wagon wheel? Sure we have a long drawn out system for it, one time event...

I felt the same way at first. Stick with it

Use cinematic mode from A to B, that's basically auto-pilot. You'll unlock a ledger at the camp midway through chapter 2 I think, upgrade Dutch's tent (and your wagon I think?) to unlock fast travel. Carry a jacket for the cold and a horse revival kit since they die easily lmao
as far as controls go, if you don't like pressing X/A to run you can turn on 'Toggle to Run' from the menu. You can switch off auto-aim too, if you want :3
I ignored crafting and never bothered with skinning animals unless I absolutely had to for an objective
the ? quests are lit

Hope that wood chopping is also a one time event. Can't see myself crafting anything either, tried crafting ammo, takes too long.

It's really atmospheric and I'm enjoying all the long and drawn out animations, but I can see it getting tiring in a few hours. Especially when you're looting a house...

Shit, I upgraded almost everything except for Dutch's tent
Didn't cross my mind to turn off "toggle to run", will do, it's really annoying pressing X like an idiot.
Hunting animals sounds like too much work, be careful of the way wind is blowing, use bow, crouch and blahblahblah I can't be bothered.
