How did WB let David Yates do the last three HP movies? recently skimmed through them and his were by far the most boring. I remember really enjoying the last 2 books but his movies really sucked.
They should have brought out the Brinx truck for Cuaron after PoA.

By Apollo Go To PostHasn’t he actually done the last 5 movies set in the universe?never bothered watching the fantastic beasts movies. always looked like shit
It seems like with Crimes of Grindelwald, Rowling just wrote a book, then Yates just filmed that with no actual attempts to convert it into a proper film script. You can get away with having like 50 characters and a complicated plot when you have 500 pages and people can read in their own time, but it produced a bizarre, super dense film.
It's strange to think that Yates was able to take Rowling's most unwiedly book, Order of the Phoenix, and produce one of the better films in the series, yet was completely unable to wade through Crimes of Grindelwald. Maybe it was just that Imelda Staunton carried Order of the Phoenix so much

Will watch Half Blood Prince at some point just to see what events were removed or given less focus.
My favourite book of the series by far.

CoG wasn't based on a book
Rowling wrote the screenplay
EDIT: unless you're saying Yates should've given the screenplay another pass before filming

The first was really good. The second wasn't. I still had some fun with the second, mostly because the world created was still filled with wonder, but that lacked some when compared to the first too.

They really should just have my man Hoyte shoot every deep space movie
Saw Spider Man FFH yesterday, I was a bit disappointed.
The action scenes were way too busy and not that interesting, Spider Man is supposed to be funny but the movie seemed like a parody at times.
I liked how they handle Mysterio and the cameo at the end was great but the rest was merely ok.

Marvel is over after Avengers Endgame. And I'm probably a bigger Marvel fanboy than n9 is a StarWars fanboy.
Well, not quite, but I'm certainly on the side of the line that respects what Marvel has done building a universe and count them as genuine movies. They need to do some big things to bring me back tho, and nothing announced so far looks more than spinning wheels to stretch shit out.
RDJ's genuine commitment and Evans heart carried that shit, and there's no replacing or replicating that. You need to take some big chances and shake things up to make me interested.

Don't be that guy lol, they'll reset and build up another 20 films
By Kidjr Go To PostDon't be that guy lol, they'll reset and build up another 20 filmsI mean in terms of expansion and growing interest. They'll obviously have more billion dollar movies at some point in the future.
Will I care? Probably not if they just look like they are treading water i.e. Origin story -> big bad introduction -> Event movie cycle without the character charm.
Ad Astra was ok.
Plot just started to become unbelievable at a certain point and then it continues to build on that exponentially.
Send old man on the verge of death as the main person watching Pitt...moon escort on mission to save the solar system had the squad armed with pistols lol. Then sending like 4 ppl on mission to save the universe without Pitt. Just a few things that had me like ehhhhh.
The psychological aspects were interesting at first, but there's not enough there to be worth all the internal monologuing.

By Kawhic Go To Postmy pet peeve is first semester physics students saying a movie is shit 'cause the science is wrong.
I have no idea what this is in reference to, but I'm betting I agree with the first semester physics students here.
I feel like me hoping this new Addams Family movie is good is the most hopeless thing I could be doing..
But I'm hoping.
But I'm hoping.
Ada Astra was great. The movie does a great job of making you feel like the main character Brad Pitt, and go through whatever he went through in the film. So when the movie is done, you feel what he does.
Movie is slower paced, with not as much dialogue or action. It's more similar to Jesse James than it is to some high action type flick.

I have mixed feelings on Ad Astra... it could have used more show and less tell. Fortunately, as the film goes on, the narration does lessen and its a better film by the end.
Looks gorgeous though and it's well filmed (that opening, whew)

Good change of pace for Sandler who's mostly been cranking out trash for a decade.

30 minutes into Doom: Annihilation and I have seen a character say the line "I am their Ultra Nightmare", another one's favourite weapon is a sawed off shotgun and the first body the Marines find at the base is off a Marine Sergeant William Blazkowicz.
