Ba legend
You know Arthur was actually good...until his partying and STDs and shit attitude.
United are loaded anyway.
By Willkiller Go To PostOf course they have. That doesn't mean he'll be a bad signing of courseYep, he can be extremely overpriced but could still improve the team so who knows

I’m hoping that if everyone goes nuts over Haaland, calls him the second coming of Jesus and hypes him as the greatest goal scorer of a generation, nay, of all time, the universe will balance it out by causing his form to drop and he ends the season, nay, his career, with less than ten premier league goals to his name.

I can’t talk about La Liga, but Serie A only has itself to blame.
It is just a shit product to watch on TV. Ugly arse stadiums with no fans in them. I remember a few years ago you could watch every game on TV and there was no incentive to go to games with the violence and the awkwardness of just buying tickets.
PL rightfully gets paid big bucks by TV companies for what it offers, and relatively speaking fairly distributes that money to all clubs. So you have even shit mid level clubs spending more than half of Europe.

Red bull:
27 games - 29 goals
Dortmund:
89 games - 86 goals
Norway:
21 games - 20 goals
Even in the CL, he has 19 games and 22 goals or something
We have to face it Pete. He's the real deal and nothing is going to stop him.

Arthur to Liverpool reeks of Saul to Chelsea. But desperate times calls for desperate measures. Guess the club wanted to get someone on loan before going for Bellingham the right player next summer. Instead going for someone like Matheus Nunes this window.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostIf only he had chosen to play for England…
Imagine Sir H. Kane in that scenario.
La Liga isn't ugly to watch, the stadiums are fairly nice, some beautiful I'd say, and in general you don't hear of any violence outside of the usual hooligan stupidity.
For how little La Liga spends, the quality is actually pretty amazing. These teams get so much out of their players considering their net spend. There are great rivalries across the table, top to bottom. La Liga teams still own European competitions and the bigger teams do attract very good talent; for example, FDJ is willing to play for free just to play in Barcelona.
PL has production value, money and is English. Very well run league with fun matches but the money being spent there I suspect is going to fuck up something in the long run.

Yeah, La Liga.
Hopefully Arthur barely plays for us. We're gonna have to sign about three CMs next summer, possibly four if we give up on Thiago being reliable.
By Righteous Furry Go To PostYeah, La Liga.Yeah, I was thinking every other league outside of PL.
Most interesting thing for me is whether the bubble will burst, or if it'll just deflate in a way the club's can adapt to.
Been listening to old Second Captains podcasts and Ken Early has been waiting for it to burst for about ten years now, whether it's China, declining Sky subscribers, declining viewers, sponsorship money outweighing value, La Liga dominance in uefa competitions, BT Sport making it twice as expensive to watch all televised games, American sports gaining more traction worldwide, and finally covid making the product a pile of shite.
The financial strength of the league has just powered through while all of those issues have fallen by the wayside.
Expect the cost of living crisis to lead to another prediction of doom soon enough, and that's one that might actually put a dent in it depending how long the current TV deal lasts for, and whether it can be adjusted mid-deal for falling subs. It'll definitely be the first thing I stop paying for if and when I need to start shedding the luxuries.

Todd finally got his players swap deal. American art of negotiation.
Edu realises you can sell players in the transfer window right? You don't have to just give them away.
By Plasma Go To PostNot massively convinced with Douglas Luiz, sounds like a panic buy. Hope it works out though.Yeah, he'll be backup to Partey I think.
By inky Go To PostHe was a top rated prospect before moving to Barca, but he's also very famous for being completely unprofessional (party dude, doesn't take care of himself, might even miss training).Perfect match for Klopp.
Adding this in here for FF since I didn't realize I was replying in the old thread:
By FootbalIFan Go To Postincredible referenceOf course! I'm a total anime geek/weeb but other than just watching it on Cartoon Network dubbed as a teenager, I'd never been a big fan of Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z necessarily. I went and saw Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero the other day though with some friends who are still into it (the first DB I'd seen in over 20 years) and even though I recognized like 40% of the characters it was really enjoyable! I saw a video after of Goku's original Japanese voice for the first time and lol, quite a different vibe.
i wonder if meier and dan know of majin buu

By Willkiller Go To PostInterested to see it for just the second half, which is the only bit that's relevant surely
But…the narrative
Feel like 5 minutes stoppage time was fair enough, was surprised we were allowed to take the corner though.
Don't see why the go-to solution for timewasting seems to have become a stop-clock and 60 minute matches, when that changes the very foundation of the sport and does nothing to fix timewasting used as a means to catch your breath or break momentum.
Just be much more liberal with the bookings, the way referees only start punishing it after the 85th minute is daft to me. Stop stopping the game for cramp if needs be, especially if the same player goes down twice.

What is up with Leicester this season? they've signed some Ligue 1 regen to replace Fofana and have otherwise spent no money, after none of last seasons transfers worked out for them. It seems pretty strange after all the praise they had for their sensible transfer dealings before
Signing one of Stevie g's best players while sending him another step closer to a sacking is funny so I support it
Man City getting Haaland for essentially peanuts is so disgusting.
Is this how they're going to win a CL now?
No, no they won't.

I don’t know too much about the lad. Doesn’t sound like he is the replacement for either CM player that I would prefer, but seems he can do a job.

It seems pretty strange after all the praise they had for their sensible transfer dealings beforeFrom what was reported, they're hurting financially and St Etienne managed to get a sell-on in the Fofana deal even with the big cost, so only about £20-25m of the fee was available to be spent. Looks like Wout Faes was £15m so I guess they could maybe bring in another cheap player and then hope for the best..
Sander Berge going to Club Brugge... Think he could have got a PL move tbh. Good player. Big loss for Sheffield United.
By Hixx Go To PostSander Berge going to Club Brugge… Think he could have got a PL move tbh. Good player. Big loss for Sheffield United.Surprised to see that. He was highly regarded before they signed him and I've watched a bunch of their games recently with Doyle and McAtee there and he continued to look solid. Can't imagine they're getting a great fee out of Brugge and sure this isn't already the last year of his deal.. weird transfer.

15 millions Euros reportedly, which is very high for the Jupiler League. Brugge splashing the cash they earned from selling De Ketelaere to AC Milan. They are offering Berge £100k a week too. Maybe Berge enjoys playing in the Belgian league too, he was at Genk for a while before they sold him to Sheffield.
Apparently he was one of those players Liverpool were eyeing this week as an emergency midfield transfer.
