I just added all 3 of you guys. Maybe I can make an OT Switch thread where we can host all of our friend codes etc?

I don't like the durability system in the game. It's just too oppressive to me. It's more akin to Dead Rising 1 but without near as many weapons laying about. Something like Dead Rising I feel like I went and saved the stuff that was strong for the big fights and had my 'fodder weapons' which I was happy to use on weaker stuff and knew I could replace quickly and easily. Where as this mostly just feels like I'm opening a box and throwing all the contents at the monster until it dies to give me a weapon that's 1/8th as good that breaks in seconds
and I just straight up dont think the bow should break at all. Like limited arrow quantities or breakable bow. Not both.

That feeling when you run into a Stone Talus Senior while exploring the Dueling Peaks and wreck it using the overpowered Spiked Moblin Club you picked up from the desert filled with overpowered enemies.
All of this in the "early" game. This game is too good.

By jjasper Go To PostI understand I am in the minority but so far I don't really like it.There's nothing wrong with that. If you're the kind of player who likes structure and a heavy narrative driven experience I can see how this might not be your thing. The appeal is the sense of discovery and how it is rewarded, and the dynamic nature of the world which allows you to create your own stories. You can go anywhere, do anything, and are usually limited only by your own skill and imagination. There's a bit of Minecraft appeal in there if you get what I'm saying.
I actually don't mind the open world nonlinear nature. But right now at the beginning I just think Link is too slow, the combat kinda sucks and the the weapon degradation stuff is dumb.
I think it really picks up once you get the parasail and increase your stamina bar twice, by then you will have plenty of higher durability weapons with at least 15-20 attack. This is around the time after you hit Kakariko.
I went took a detour on the way to Kakariko. Did the Dueling Peaks shrines, then glided all the way into Faron. This is a zone teeming with enemies that can wreck me in a few hits. As I look for the tower I run into the Kamah Plateau Hinox; I got nothing strong enough to deal with him so I shoot him in the eye and grab the +38 Knight's Claymore off his neck while he's down and then use it to murderize him. Now I got a bunch of awesome high level loot and I'm like
I'm doing a shirtless run and I haven't upgraded hearts at all yet. Pretty sure everything one or two hit kill me.
I'm not going shirtless. Just got to Kakariko. I wish there were a way to post these without going through social media but here's my Link:
Fuck motion puzzles
But I just got my blue shirt and hoodie and I'm ready to do more, if I hadn't accidentally played until 3am simply exploring the world.

Just got to my first "dungeon" it's definitely not as big as a normal dungeon, it seems like there are only 5 or so puzzles, but they seem to be harder than any shrine so far. I did the first puzzle and now I have no idea what to do. Btw preparing for and getting to the dungeon was one of the coolest parts of the game so far, so good.
I have my first real complaint about the game though. I have no problem with the weapon system in fact I think it adds a nice wrinkle of strategy and planning. But you can't have that system then also have a bunch of shrine/dungeon puzzles that require you to hit/shoot objects with your weapons. If you can't figure out a certain puzzle you could easily burn though all your gear trying. They should have made it so that your weapons don't degrade inside shrines. It's pretty easy (and fun) to gear up again though so it's not the end of the world but it's still annoying.

Holy crap. Visit the Kaam Ya'tak Shrine in Central Hyrule. It's easy to get to and packed with high level weapons. I got a +50 Edge of Duality from a chest.

I got a +50 Edge of Duality from a chest.Yeah I hit that shrine as soon as i got off the plateau and I just used that sword to take down a pre dungeon boss a few hours ago. The drops you get from the machines in there are no joke too. Are the shrines farmable? I keep meaning to go back and see but I keep finding other shit to do.
I just placed my order for this and Horizon Zero Dawn from TRU. Buy 1 get one 40% off. Was going to go with Target and its B2G1 sale but they were sold out of Breath of the Wild Wii U instantly.
I hate weapon degregation and crafting. I also hate playing through a game multiple times to get the "real ending." (Looking at you, 999). I also dislike unguided games. I need some direction so that I *know* I've done everything the game has to offer, discovered without using the internet as a resource, and then I never have to play the game if I don't want.
I'll be joining this soon....

Nope shrines are not farmable. Oh well would have been fun for a minute but potentially game breaking.

the game actually gives you plenty of direction, its just that its designed to also keep you exploring the world looking for shrines, koroks, etc.
Played 6 more hours today and have barely advanced the story at all. Just been having too much fun dicking around.
By data Go To PostI use the knight armor because I aint some fucking naruto weabKnight armor is just another word for Extra Crispy when the thunderstorms roll through
I just run shirtless cause it's more fun that way.
I wish we have a fundoshi in this game for Link, maybe DLC.

I got the upgrade to Shiekah Slate +...is there a way to have it just targeting nothing? I really don't need it to start beeping at me every time I run by a mushroom.

So I beat the first dungeon, it actually ended up being cooler/more involved than I thought it was gonna be at first. Definitely shorter than a classic 3d Zelda dungeon though maybe about 1/3 of the length of an average one. I also **non story spoiler just a cool feature that you may wanna discover on your own** bought a house that lets you mount weapons shields and bows on the walls effectively serving as a small stash.
This game is steadily climbing my all time list...

Cool.
The idea of the way weapon durability works in this doesn't bother me until you get to the late game. Can't be doing with my badass stuff breaking innit
Finally got around to reaching Zora's Domain and I've marked a ton of stuff in the zone that I want to check out.
Gonna have to wait 'cause I've been playing an unhealthy amount today.
On my to do list tomorrow is finding the Deku Tree so that I can get more weapon slots. I can't hold all these awesome weapons.
Oh and out of sheer curiosity I went to check out the top of Mt. Lanayru and I was not prepared for what I found up there.
Felt like this.

You don't have to find the Deku tree necessarily, after I beat the Zora area one of those Deku guys was standing by the river side stable in Hyrule field. And thanks now I'm gonna be thinking about climbing Mt. Lanayru all day today at work.
Heard on a stream that apparently one source of the framerate drops is that, due to vsync, the fps immediately drops to 20 when it dips below 30.
By jjasper Go To PostOh god the motion puzzles (also I turned the Wii U controller upside down on of them to cheese it)yup thats what i ended up doing because it was so bad
At this point I am ready to accept that I am clearly missing something. I have played 10 hours, haven't seen anything interesting. have 5 hearts ,have no increased stamina, the only money I have come across is from selling my loot and with that I bought a hood and new tunic from the village. Meanwhile I see posts and tweets about how this is the greatest thing in the world.
It's funny I watched a lets play (cause thats what I do when i cant play the game, I got it bad) and I noticed some slow down on that but I still haven't noticed it while I'm actually playing.

Try playing the main quest line that takes you to the next village and back. After that the game directs you to the 4 'dungeons', Ive only done one so far but it was one of the most 'exciting' parts of the game so far. If you don't like it after that then it might not be for you.
Kakariko. In a different one now starts with an H. But I think I figured out why it was so miserable for the first couple hours. I was wondering around central Hyrule getting destroyed. Things have gotten a lot better since I left there. I am not ready to quit anymore.
About 25 hours in, instead of hitting the second dungeon quest, I'm trying to clean up my side quest log
i think once you start throwing your breaking weapons at enemies (with R) then picking theirs up and using the quick access all in one step, you really get into the combat. use stasis, bombs, arrows, high vantage points. im loving the combat so much in this game
best strategy I had was laying bomb traps until enemies figured out my strategy, now they avoid the bomb when they see it. The level of immersion in this game is great.
Holy shit I went and fight my first Lynel. That thing hits hard and has so much HP/Defense.
I went through 3 Sheikah Longswords to kill it, and I could only kill it by dodging and witch time.

Wow I just had the most epic fight against some fire breathing Lizalfos in a windy field of tall grass. They started a huge fire and I kept flying up and bullet timing them with arrows and slamming them with a sledge hammer.
You gotta get some strong ass weapons and go time some good dodges or this dude will fuck you up early game.
Wow anyone else playing with a Pro Controller? Mine just got in from Japan and this thing is a game changer. No more accidental crouches. I miss the free arm movement of the Joy-Cons but otherwise this thing is beautiful.
in that quest where you need to be around a Lynel and gather 20 electric arrows I decided to go full stealth, a great experience overall

I could just go there and buy them.
Gonna kill the monster anyway tho.
Okay Lynel is kicking my ass I'm going to stealth it lol.
By masud Go To PostThat's not even Lynels final form. Check out the one in AkkalaI encountered one in the Colloseum in Central Hyrule and yeah couldn't get out of there fast enough.
