If it's one thing I will say about Porsche it's that they actively encourage their owners to use their cars and really drive them instead of just treating them like garage queens or collector pieces. I'm sure you folks have probably seen Nick Murray's Youtube channel. He uses his 991 911 C4S to do just about everything including moving furniture and carting his dogs around. I say, if you love it and you're paying that much money for it why wouldn't you want to use it as much as possible?
While I won't be bringing my dog around in it, I will be driving the hell out of mine. The Sonata will be dedicated to heavy city and interstate driving with everything else going to the Cayman.
I was looking at Porsches the other day. The Cayman was not as expensive in Korea as I thought it would be.
Makes me almost want to learn how to drive.
When to the glitzy part of Seoul yesterday.
Saw three McLarens and two Ferraris. All so beautiful.

Could just imagine the type of trouble Shanks would get into after having just got a licence then directly going in to a middle engined 350hp vehicle.
By Kibner Go To PostI've lived frugally for most of my life for opportunities like this.
You talking my language, I'm frugal / cheap so I respect the grind to finally cash in on it.
By Lunatic Go To PostCould just imagine the type of trouble Shanks would get into after having just got a licence then directly going in to a middle engined 350hp vehicle.Yeah, if he gets his permit he should probably go on a couple of lengthy test drives so that he knows what he's getting in to before pulling the trigger. I will say a car like the Cayman has amazing agility and is small and light though so in that respect it's a great, safe city car as long as you don't hang out in people's blind spots.

You know what, fuck it, I am gonna try and learn to drive next year. I won’t be buying a car, but it is about time I learnt.
In other news, anyone know when the 718 Cayman T configurator will be live? I am genuinely curious about pricing and options on that one, you know, for the future. ;-)

At least I get better seats and infotainment for the extra money, I guess? Lol
This is a dumb question but with run flat tires if the PSI drops a bit cause of cold weather, do you fill it up with the run flat liquid or with just regular air to get the pressure back up?

Regular. And then you get rid of run flats because they're absolute trash.

By Adam Go To PostHow's the Macan thus far?Incredible. It's the first car I have ever owned that is fun and interesting enough to keep me engaged on my daily commute while also being quiet enough to listen to opera at highway speeds. I don't listen to a lot of operatic music as a general rule, especially in a car environment because I am so used to them being noisy places, but being Christmas I pulled up Handel's Messiah out of my catalog this week and it's been awesome. It sounds great on the Bose system and cruising along with it as accompaniment has been epic.
The Macan is so smooth and so quiet at 70mph. It's by far the most refined vehicle that I have owned while also being able to do a pretty good imitation of an excellent sport sedan with the touch of a button. Of all the vehicles I have tried it's the ultimate "do it all". I've got a much more in-depth review / comparison that I'm working on but yeah, I'm pretty blown away.

LolI meant to say this earlier but my thought is in a few years cars configured like yours and the 718 T models will be the ones enthusiasts are looking for. Manuals are getting harder to come by and the true "driver's" spec cars are already few and far between.

Would make it much easier to buy pre-owned and get what we are looking for.
e: i hope there would be enough of a market for a profitable "lease driver spec car -> sell as pre-owned after lease ends" cycle to exit. it would let enthusiasts either cycle through the latest and greatest or get something a bit older but still what they want without having to search for a million years for the right configuration
So I bought an S Class last week. Ruby black on black loaded to the gills. AMG wheels and body styling, Designo interior, warmth and comfort package, rear executive seating, distronic plus, night vision, etc.
It's an amazing contrast to the 458. Huge, comfy, quite, and luxurious. I just turn on the heated massage seats and let the adaptive cruise waft me to work while I enjoy the Burmester sound system. Suffice it to say, the Type R has not been driven since. Lol. I'm still keeping it though. It's an awesome 6 speed manual pocket rocket. Dont know if I posted a pic of it after I got the matte bronze OZ Ultraleggera winter setup, but here it is.

ive been eyeing the fuck out of s classes lately. not to purchase or anything, but with a nice color combo, looks really good on the road.
There will always be a special place in my heart and in my garage for a great sports car but for the daily grind it's awfully nice to have a quiet and comfortable ride that also feels upscale and luxurious. Nice S Class, Evo, I know you will enjoy it.
By jongkookie Go To PostIt's that time of the year again folks! My annual tradition of "my car is a reindeer" picture is here once again lol.Perfect car pic for Christmas. Well done!
Depreciation has absolutely wrecked HAVOC on S-Classes, 7-series, A8s, etc. I think luxury sedan land barges are depreciating faster than ever before.
You did good finding a nice used one that's loaded to the gills, Evo.

lol they should've just made it a 2-seater, those rear seats are barely seats at all.
Only 3" longer than the original 8-Series is pretty surprising.
The engine/exhaust sound fucking proper, it gives me hope for the next M3/M4.

By reilo Go To Postlol they should've just made it a 2-seater, those rear seats are barely seats at all.V8 sound vs I6 sound. I wouldn't count on the M3 ever sounding that good again unless it gets another V8. I still think its possible to make a good sounding turbo 6 cylinder but BMW hasn't achieved that yet. They've made some improvements in some areas but exhaust noise for their I6 turbo cars still needs improvement.

The 90s and 00s I6s in BMWs always sounded good to me, not sure what happened with the F30 M engine.
I drove the M850i at work last month. Loved it. Properly quick and good sounding. Can't wait for M8.
By Smokey Go To PostThe F30 was a mistake.
F3x as a regular 3-series will probably go down as the worst in the line of all. Same goes for the F9x M3/M4, barring of course, the US-spec E36 M3. They will definitely not be remembered fondly. They look awesome...they just went extremely soft after the badassery of the E92
But I still like the F9x M4 and waiting some more until they depreciate enough to maybe snag one with a 6MT to replace the Z.
Just saw this one Youtube. It's a Tirerack sponsored Hot Lap with Randy Pobst and the 2018 TTRS. He talks about some of the issues I had with the car (although I did not have the issues has has with the brakes - I wonder if his car had the carbon ceramics as mine did not and I thought the brake bite was excellent) including the transmission programming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l30JOQ9duqg
The TTRS is a unique car with an awesome motor. If Audi tweaked it a bit it could really be fantastic.

Yeah, I still really like the look of the F9x M3/M4.
Yeah, it basically looks exactly as every single render that decamo'd the car in Photoshop. I see absolutely no surprises here. It looks better from the rear for sure. I think the headlights are a little too...fat, their brow is just a bit high. I'd lop off like an inch or a bit extra from the top of the lights. They don't quite suit the nature of the car's smaller stature and tight lines.
The bottom half of the front annoys the hell out of me, like it belongs on an entirely different car.
Like basically every modern Toyota, there's nothing about it that truly flows.

Any recommendations for outdoor car covers? The Cayman will be kept in a covered carport that will shelter it from things falling from the sky and direct sunlight but not so much against whatever the wind will blow its way.
E: researching a bit more into it and I think I just need something to block sunlight and keep dust out since the covered car port will stop things like bird poop and most weather. Maybe some light rain protection for when there are strong winds during a rain storm. It needs to be breathable since I live in a hot and humid environment

I don't have a recommendation on the cover but a good ceramic coating goes a LONG way towards making sure that dust/dirt/whatever can just be wiped or washed off with ease and will protect the paint from the elements. The TTRS had the ceramic coating and there's a night and day difference in the effort required (and end result) between it and the Macan. I will absolutely have the Macan ceramic coated at some point in the near future once we get past the holidays and all of this rain. Right now, it's a muddy/dirty Macan but with nearly a dozen inches of rain in the last month there's not a lot I can do about it.
The fat hood of the Supra reminds me of the MK4 but everything else looks like a BMW except they replaced the kidneys with an abomination to complement the Toyota badge.
Idk if i like it. 😶

The Z is getting a set of Motordyne ART Pipes. Found a pair locally and bought them. God bless FL and no emissions testing. Last thing for performance will be a tune with built-in crackles and pops. Woof. Can't wait.
I'll reserve judgement on the Supra until I see it in person. I can already tell some of the lines are fussy and weird but that seems to be normal for Toyota designs these days. Likely it will be pretty cool in person and in motion but I honestly don't know what they were thinking with some of those front bumper elements.
