By Kibner Go To PostI think it was designed more on a Commodore 64, let alone a Nintendo 64.
OMFG @ that halo shit
What's crazy to me is that Tesla knew why the original EV never took off. They made EV's kinda sexy and then commoditized them and helped push the market along.
SO WHY IN GODS NAME DO YOU MAKE THE UGLIEST TRUCK INT HE WORLD?
I get the design challenges of an EV truck and aerodynamics and all, but then why even list towing capacity? Ok so it's got a 10K payload compared to an 8K payload for a Silverado. How long can I tow that 10K cause I'm driving hundreds of miles to a river or a lake to waterski, and my boat is not aerodynamic.

I guess i don't totally get the target market for this.. who is going to be the early adopter to buy one of these to be an actual work truck? Who is going to buy it to tow something when so much of towing things involves long range and being out where you don't have access to a supercharger?

They have enough money to get the truck, something to tow, somewhere to stow it all, and still be close enough to a beach that any range problem won't be a problem.
e: i'm not saying this is a good market to target, but it is the only market that could feasibly use a truck like this
there are also people, of course, that just prefer driving trucks and don't care about towing power except out of some sense of dick measuring

Why anyone would pick the Cybertruck over the upcoming Rivian if someone was truly in the market for an EV truck I do not know.
Oh yea, the biggest WTF? Stainless steel. For a vehicle that is going to get abused:
https://www.autoblog.com/2019/11/22/tesla-cybertruck-stainless-steel-body/
Stainless steel is a wonderful material – durable, easy to clean, attractive. And that’s part of the reason the DeLorean Motor Company and Italdesign’s Giorgetto Giugiaro selected it for the exterior panels of the DMC-12. It would make the car instantly recognizable, like nothing else on the road. That, the gullwing doors, and a certain Robert Zemeckis movie ensured eternal fame.
But as a body material, it has its limitations. Stainless steel can show scratches, but unlike a painted panel you can’t simply spray over them. You can abrade the surface to “re-grain” the steel if the scratches are light enough. Dents are even worse, and a real headache for owners. With a painted panel, you can fill a small dent, or pop it out and then use filler to smooth the panel. Paint hides the filler, and the end result of competent bodywork is seamless. But you can’t fill a bare panel, so if the dent can’t be picked out using special techniques (and requiring a tiny amount of filling and sanding), the panel has to be replaced. Here's a video on what it takes to refinish a DeLorean hood.

I mean even if I don't tow, what if I want to go off-roading? 100 miles to get to a desert area and then I'm pushing the truck off road and then got to drive back? IT's not like I can carry an extra gas tank.
It's the epitome of vanity truck but one that lack most utility a truck offers, and it doesn't even get the vanity party correct.
God that Tesla truck is fucking hideous. Did they actually let Elon design that instead of actual car designers?
Lmaoooo.
I meant that with Porsche NA’s employee offerings all I can afford to lease is a Macan lol. IIRC a base Macan with some down payment comes out to less than $600 a month for 3 years.

Got new wheels for the Jag.
Also, M3 is really coming along great. I love this car, the hype is seriously real. The paint is perfect now. Had the front bumper resprayed and then the whole car got detailed, a 4 step detail too: Compound, Polish, Cquartz UK 3.0, GLISS Top Coat (and headlights polished too). So double ceramic layer, protection should last me 5 years easily, assuming I keep the car long enough.

$22K and it was somewhat rough :D
I could probably sell it for $28K now and I haven't really put TOO much money into it. The detail makes the car look brand new.
Detail: $800 (saved some money for helping), normally would be a $2K job.
Bumper: $500
DCT/Power/EDC Button Panel: $160 (labor me)
Taillights: $350 (labor me)
Oil and Diff fluid: $120 (labor not charged)
Hood Struts: $60 (labor me)
Other little misc things I took care of myself, including USB port falling through into the interior. Broken and missing clips. Replacing interior LEDs. Broken leather e-brake boot, removing rear spoiler, removing cheap ass CF mirror caps, replacing badges back to OEM blue/white roundels, cleaning the leather, fixing trunk liner, and some other stuff I can't remember.
I need to replace passenger side mirror motor (cheap), replace a broken/permanently shut passenger side climate vent (very cheap), replace the worn down DCT shifter (fairly inexpensive DIY), fix or replace the worn and cracking steering wheel (looking into repairing the leather to save costs). And then do the rod bearings service, will run about $1000 total thanks to my hookup.
When all is said and done, the car will be 100% pristine. Could be worth $30K+ if I decide to sell it. And if I do sell, I might also consider taking off the Fabspeed exhaust and get like $4K for that bitch.

Jaguar didn’t reveal plans for a SVR version of this new F-Type down the road, but we assume one must be in development. Expect even more horsepower from that car if/when it arrives. As of now, Jaguar claims the R will hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, the same time as the SVR. Top speed is electronically limited to 186 mph. Every engine configuration comes with an active exhaust system as standard or optional. The R features a new “Quiet Start” mode that’ll help you maintain a friendly relationship with your neighbors.
Jaguar made some handling improvements to the new F-Type, too. New springs and anti-roll bars complement recalibrated continuously variable dampers. The claim is better low-speed comfort and more high-speed control. Both the electric power steering and the stability control system have been re-tuned, as well. Hardware-wise, Jaguar says the rear suspension knuckles are now aluminum die castings. This, along with larger wheel bearings and revised upper ball joints reportedly “increase camber and toe stiffness by 37 percent and 41 percent, respectively.” The brake-based torque-vectoring system was re-tuned to quell understeer. Jaguar is also now using Pirelli P Zero tires that are 10 mm wider on the R.

I figure I should have another Porsche in the stable considering I work for them.
Thinking 2020 Carrera S for May delivery next year after nasty Chicago winter has passed. Any ideas on spec?
Want to keep below $130k as this will be a 2 yr lease and I ain't trying to have some ridiculous monthly.
Only thing I know for sure is PDK as this is gonna be daily and I got the Type R for 6MT thrills. I think manuals suit lower HP cars better and this shit is definitely making more than the advertised 450HP. Anyone who has driven one can attest to that.
458 will be relegated to fair weather weekend cruising and S Class only if I need to drive more than 1 person around.
No way I literally went to porche today to enquire about the same thing. I really am trying to be pragmatic but it's one of my childhood dreams to have the turbo but want there really is for absolutely no valid reason other than I think it looks cool. May I ask how much you would put down on the deposit? I got quoted something I thought was pretty high.
But I'm also looking at McLaren 570s and not sure if I'm about that life. I'm somewhat low-key these days and Jags suit that, imo.
But also, NSX has been on my mind too, especially because of reliability and warranty.

Shop around for that. Ask your potential creditors how rates change depending on deposit amount.
As a general rule, you don't want your monthly note to be more than 20% of your monthly net income.
Also, my Cayman is a turbo and it has added a new challenge on top of being my first manual but I am enjoying it. The engine noise isn't as satisfying as a NA six cylinder (mine is a turbo four cylinder) but it is still kinda fun to listen to the turbo. Having to drive for a few minutes for the fluids to heat up properly before being able to really gun it does take away from some of the fun.
It does look fucking sweet, still.

Yeah that's what I kinda had in mind, as long as it's under 2.5/3k a month I dont mind. So shop around for for financing rather than use the one Porsche recommended to get a better deal?, didn't even know you could do that.
Thanks

Essentially, you take a loan from your creditor and they purchase the vehicle on your behalf. As such, the creditor keeps the title until you finish paying your loan. That's how it works for purchases, anyway.
Thanks
Or were you looking at leasing? I am not sure if you can do that with leasing a vehicle from the dealer. I don't think you would have any options in that case. Sorry for the misleading post, if so. :(
Oh, also, if you are leasing, it is generally recommended to not put down any bigger of a deposit than what is required. https://www.edmunds.com/car-leasing/should-you-make-a-down-payment-when-you-lease.html

It is a spreadsheet I created to calculate your lease payment and see what goes into it. You only need to put in the information in the top group of fields. It calculates all the values in the bottom group. Some of the information you will have to get from the dealer or whoever you are getting the lease from (on the off-chance you can do that on a lease).
e: it assumes that sales tax is done on the cost of the lease; a couple states in the US charge sales tax on the purchase cost instead of the lease cost, which makes it stupid to lease in those states so this calculator does not consider that possibility

I've always purchased cars through HPC but I really should look into leasing as not really fussed about ownership at this point.
It should be noted that Kidjr doesn't live in the US so his financing options, etc might be way different.

Never pay anything other than: 1st month's payment, registration/DMV, and bank fee. That's it.
Nothing else.
