Great day for car spotting and some great pics. I absolutely love that 911 flatnose even if it is a conversion (is it really a flatnose? I'm doubting myself now that I see it again). I also love the red 60's Camaro and the black Viper with the OHMYGRD tag, lol. And hey, that Aston isn't bad either, right? ;-) Good album!
The front of that Aston is pure shit. Looks like a Chinese car...they literally put NO effort into those headlights.
Also, the Chiron has a side profile with a giant C as the intake that runs from the side skirt to the roof line. Pointier front end and a very sleek rear end with a giant single solid brake light. They're really quite different the two cars.

Rumor has it next Cayman GT4 and Boxster GT3 might come with a 4.0L flat-six. That'd be the Porsche to get.
Had a lady come pick up her Supra today at work. She bought it brand new. Car is sitting at nearly 350k miles and it’s in good condition. Very nice lady.

Both Planet 9 and the 718 forums have been overrun with spy shots, rumors and "insider" info that verify that both will be flat 6 instead of the turbo 4. I'm eagerly awaiting the announcements that have the specs and pricing.

I trust no one will blab here, but if you guys watch Tavarish's YouTube videos, he's announced he is selling the Aston Martin (Doug Demuro's old V8 Vantage). He's actually already sold it and wouldn't spill exactly the reason why...it's because he bought a twin turbo Gallardo. I don't recall what year (I think it was a 2008).
Yep, with a gated shifter
The car is in need of work though, and is yet another project for him to tackle. But it's a huge upgrade over the AM. I might go check it out once it arrives.
I'm also putting together a local midday Cars & Coffee that he'll be coming out to in March, although it's highly unlikely he'll bring that with him.

If Orlando wasn't such a haul from North Georgia I would come and join you in March. My Lexus was an Orlando car until I purchased it in early 2016 and drove it back home.

And speaking of the Lexus I got it back from the mechanic last night. Both passenger side catalytic converters replaced, both headlight assemblies replaced and the oil changed all for less than $500 (I provided the parts so that was just labor). Still, I'm feeling pretty darn good about it and changing out those old, yellowed headlight assemblies for brand new clear ones made a HUGE difference to the looks of the vehicle from the front.
The fact that the original owner put a twin turbo on it, it'll probably require quite a bit of work. But Freddy may be certifiably crazy enough to learn it and work on it.

Volvo just reported their best year ever. How many great and innovative brands did Ford almost ruin during the 90s and 2000s?
Jaguar, Volvo, Mazda?

They have been at times! Revolutionized the industrial model and found a way to provide the greatest epoch making widget the world has ever seen.
Technically, it didn't really transform society until the 50s. But, yeah.
Also the Mustang and Pony Car! And the Explorer.
Also the Mustang and Pony Car! And the Explorer.
And the luxury SUV based off the Explorer (Navigator) was a first, as well. The Escalade was the car that made it more desirable.
Nonetheless, Ford of the 90s made a truly terrible product, as did all American companies. The enthusiast circle has started to look back and realize what dark time it was for the automotive world back in 80s and 90s. There was a plethora of simply bad products out there that allowed Japanese manufacturers like Honda and Nissan to really take off and get their feet cemented in the market forever. Toyota was long a staple in this country, but when Chrysler and GM started shitting the bed, it allowed Honda and Nissan to replace them and help dominate.

So, this happened yesterday:
65 degrees and sunny on February 9th and the first top-down trip from work to home for 2018. And it was fantastic.

I don't think the Evora gets as much love as it deserves though. Undercuts and outperforms a base Carrera, with arguably better feel and dynamics.
And as heretical as this might sound, I eagerly await the eventual Lotus crossover.

I bought my GTI in September with 18k miles and it just crossed over to the 26k mark yesterday... 😱

I'm jelly! It felt amazing over here too and even with all my windows down, it just can't replace the feeling of driving with the top down.
It's starting to warm up, for sure. Not so much today, but I took the Cayman out Columbia Gorge, did a quick hike up Beacon Rock and came back. Was lovely, despite a surprise corner near accident on the way back. There's really a lot to be said for having a car that's really entertaining to drive for hiking trips.

As wonderful as the occasional top-down trip is my next sports car will have a fixed roof. If there had been a coupe version of the MX-5 I would have gotten one of those instead. My love for the MX-5 is almost all about the chassis, size, manual gearbox and feel and has very little to do with that removable roof. For me, top down is just an additional bonus that I could do without for most of the year and still enjoy the car just as much.
Favorite togue road was closed because of snow, since nobody was around I snuck around the barriers and enjoyed a full day of empty togue! parked a few times to take pictures.

or the past year we've been getting reports of a BMW M2 Competition on the way, bolstered, Sasquatch-like, with a snippet of a spy shot. The brand followers at Bimmerpost now have photographic and VIN support for the model that will replace the current M2, not be sold alongside it. The 365-horsepower M2 is already one of our favorite cars, the M2 Competition should press our buttons even harder with 405-hp.
The extra stallions come with a switch from the 3.0-liter, single-turbo, six-cylinder N55 engine to a detuned version of the 3.0-liter, twin-turbo S55 inline-six from the M3 and M4.Which means with a tune you can be putting down 450-500hp.
Bimmerpost says we should expect an M2 Competition reveal at the Beijing Motor Show in April. Production is slated to start in July, with deliveries commencing in the latter part of the year. Unit numbers will be based on demand, instead of being artificially limited. No idea on price yet, but the current M2 retails for $54,500, and the Competition Package on the M3/M4 adds $4,750. Having cemented a hotter M2 in the near distance, M fans are already wondering if the long-rumored, more widely available M2 CS or a 444-hp M2 GTS await over the horizon. If someone wants to make a quick six figures, get yourself one of these the moment they drop, don't drive it, and resell it 6 months later.
The weather is definitely warming up. I don't have a convertible anymore, sadly. Although, to be fair, I did enjoy night time convertible drives more than the topless drives during the day.

This sounds extremely awesome! But if the production volume isn't limited, this car won't be worth much.
What made the 1M so expensive was its limited availability. Only 499 in the US. 499 overseas. 2 for BMW. And then demo cars for the press.

Yeah, it'll still be fairly low volume. I doubt it'll double in value, but I do think one will be able to buy and drive it without much (if any) depreciation. That's a rare feat on a new car.

It sounds like the car will be a last hurrah for the current 2-series. I do think it will be spectacular though.
My neighbor (the BMW collector) already knows about the car and is on the order list.
Supra will be OFFICIALLY revealed March 6th. Toyota tweeted out the announcement.
But it seems to have leaked already:

I'm pretty sure I called it being fugly back in the GAF days.
But that is actually a mid spec car (notice it's riding on 17s). Higher spec cars will have different spoilers, re-worked facias, bumpers, etc. Though those all LED lights are a premium option, as the true base car will have a single projector with a running LED strip.
I don't like that central air-dam up front, I think it looks stupid and like a giant gaping mouth - it looks like the car has 3 mouths, in fact. Also, the headlights are too big. And the fact that they crunched the wheelbase down and shortened the car over the concept (and made it shorter than the last MKIV Supra) makes the car look squished. Still, I'm excited about the release of this car because it will light a flame under Nissan's ass.
Nissan doesn't do shit that Toyota will. If Toyota has a sports car, you better bet that Nissan will finally drop hints of a new Z. Just seemed like they were waiting for Toyota to shoot first.
Rumors are indicating no manual transmission prototypes have been spotted, which has many worried. Look at the details in the mag...8 speed auto. :'(
