Idk why but I love the new found convention of shitting on every game's clipping :lol
We gotta be real--visuals aside and if this wasn't the RE2 remake, that Birkin fight footage would be getting blasted. Very bare bones gameplay there. Compare that to even RE5 where you're baiting a tentacle monster into a trash incinerator, trying to get it to grab exploding tanks, etc.

By his right leg.
I'm done with Mass Effect 3 and it's a good game, but that ending is a real miscalculation, even with the extended cut. For a series that tried to sell itself based on player choice, it's pretty inexplicable to funnel people down three paths, none of which I felt like were fitting with the character I played. It has that Fallout 4 problem of an endgame that doesn't respect how you role-played to that point.
Oh, well. They'll always have the first two ME games.

It was fucked long before the ending. Had some good set pieces but let's be real you 1 v 1 a fucking reaper

By DY_nasty Go To PostIt was fucked long before the ending. Had some good set pieces but let's be real you 1 v 1 a fucking reaperThat fight is so fucking dumb. Especially because it's not entirely clear what you need to be doing at first.
The plot stuff, some of I'm willing to forgive. Yeah, it's awfully convenient all these people you interacted with suddenly start popping up on random missions. Like, whoa, random Jack sighting. But it's also trying to close out the trilogy and they feel the need to throw in lots of fan service. (Citadel is the worst piece of DLC I've ever purchased.)
I'm less forgiving with how it throws away characters like Thane and Mordin, or how little sense it makes that Jacob just hangs out in the hospital all game instead of joining the fight.

but that's what resulted from writing themselves into a corner years prior in ME2. As for the gameplay? It was fantastic. It just sucked ass any time you weren't shooting something.
"Exploration is my favorite part of Mass Effect"
*space travel becomes pac man*
"I love how the sidequests can go from a simple courier mission to something crazy"
*spreadsheet*
"I loved the party interaction"
*don't get the full party until 2/3s of the way through the game*
but it all started in mass effect 2's appeal to casual players just like how dead space fucked itself as a series. EA was on one back then.
By DY_nasty Go To PostMordin and Wrex were great. Everything else? gahbageWrex has always been great. I just didn't like how Mordin is only around for a bit and then has his noble sacrifice. But the same also goes for Thane, who you see for all of one conversation before he throws himself in front of a sword for Shepard because reasons. Characters like Liara, Ashley, and Tali are basically different people.

The exploration thing was terrible. There was never any incentive to scan any planet because too many pulls of the left trigger and system is swarmed with reapers. I didn't even bother with all those citadel quests to find items for random items for people I've never met. The "I overheard you needed this"thing is beyond lame.
There's hardly any side quests and the ones that are there are all of about 15-20 minutes each. I finished in like 20 hours and two of those were spend with the interminable Citadel DLC.

He's generic assassin with nothing behind him but bisexual sub fantasies. Putrid. I stood up and clapped when he died. Even space ninja was better than him.

Going back to ME2, they did a couple of things that just limited gameplay overall. Regarding the side quests, they really got it in their heads that the majority (that are worth the effort) have to be party based. It narrowed the narrative towards the group instead of the overall story. That's okay when your party is awesome. For example, Tali's story in ME2 is amazing. But for everyone else? It becomes a checklist of events that only matter if you're particularly invested - and no one is ever gonna care about Jacob.
ME1 had it right because everything was based on the main character's rival. The party's characterization and their actions were based on that conflict. ME2 flirted with it but they left the rails hard trying to force a more human conflict with Cerberus and the death of the reapers as a real threat aka Harbinger.
By MonadL Go To PostOcotpath Traveler was the best selling game in July according to NPD.I don't think any other game came out in July tbf
ME2 was the first Mass Effect game I played, thought it was so good at the time when they released it on PS3
