By Zabojnik Go To PostI've been fucking around with various display managers over the past couple of weeks. DisplayFusion is great, as is BastaZMover. The latter doesn't do proper virtual displays, however it's great for setting up and maintaining an optimal desktop layout. Highly recommended for UWers.I could probably get an adapter to make the mic wireless but there doesn't appear to be a way to make a headphone wireless while still having a quality amp connected to it.
Speaking of, can you guys recommend an mp3 / music player that's highly customizable and, you know, good? Other than Winamp, I mean.
This is how I'm running my desktop like 95% of the time.
----
For highly customizable music player, foobar is the standard. Ugly as shit until you customize it, but yeah. It uses few resources and can play every format under the sun, gapless playback, and too many other features to mention.
I think I must be overly sensitive to high frequencies because the coil whine from my UPSs are driving me insane. I need to find a way to dampen them somehow.
Looks like I will be building my own enclosure, following instructions similar to this: https://acousticalsolutions.com/soundproofing-small-loud-machines/
I know that feel. My old PSU had it, couldn't wait to upgrade my PC to get rid of the cunt. Now I'm blessed with a completely silent PC. No coil whine from the PSU, no water pump noise (#air4lyfe), absolutely nothing. :blessed:
Well, actually, my Tannoy monitors are making a bit of white noise at idle, but I'm able to tune it out, unlike with whining.

Yeah, the only sound coming from my PC is the whoosh of air from the fans. It's just that the uninterruptible power supply has this damn high-pitched whine. And it seems to be the case for every UPS that doesn't cost a fortune.
Unless someone has found one without that kind of noise and is under $300.

oh motherfuck, APC does make a line for exactly this type of shit: http://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/categories/power/audio-video-solutions/av-power-conditioners-with-battery/av-power-conditioners-battery-backups/N-1waw8zf Prices seem to be much cheaper on Amazon.
Guess I'll need to find someone to sell my current UPSs to. =/

Always kind of wanted a UPS, didn't bite for exactly this reason. RIP Kib.
Some day I'll move my PC to another room, run cables through the wall to the 'computer' room. Ain't nobody got time for showing off their PC.

I'll definitely let you know how this turns out. I posted a question on their forums, which are usually pretty good. Want to make sure these don't have coil whine or other high-frequency noises before I buy them.
By Zabojnik Go To PostMessing around with foobar2000, installed the Fusion theme / mod. Tons of options, hopefully I'll be able to configure it as I wish.Tweeten is great.
By Wahabipapangus Go To Postnot having a mouse as light as possible lmao. miss me with that wireless shit.
nobody got time for wires in 2018
By Fergie Go To PostTweeten is great. It's good, however it's not working properly for me in that location. When I try to retweet something, the pop-up window opens too far to the right, outside the screen area, making it unusable.

Imagining the world in which you live where a wire weighs nothing. Whew.
By Laboured Go To PostImagining the world in which you live where a wire weighs nothing. Whew.It will be cool when we live in a world where the power source for a mouse weighs less than a wire.

that's why i got a mouse bungee innit
Imagine that probably works out but I fucking hate wires in my mouse, the mere presence of any tug/additional friction whatsoever is more disgusting than any slight additional weight.
Edit: wat in the fuck is that thing
fuk it im going back to taping rgb lights to my SSDs

Or just go wireless like modern folks. Even better if you can get some RGBs on your wireless mouse.

Oh baby now we're talking
Really, though, it's a bit of the weight but more that none of the mouse shells feel as comfortable to hold for as long than the Zowie mice and they are all wired.
tbh i wasn't a believer in wireless pc tech until logitech came with the wave and changed everything. typing now on my wireless g613 with the g900.
the g900 is what really got me to switch. just a phenomenal mouse.

I'm happy with my G533's. Wireless headset was a game changer for me. Can see the benefits of a wireless mouse, but keyboard? Mine just sits on the desk and doesn't move, so wired or wireless, it's a non-issue for me.

Just more wires removed from the desk. I also got it with the thought that if I want to hook my PC up to my OLED in the living room, which I've done before, I'm not limited to a compromising distance because of wires. With the G533, G613, and G900 I can setup wherever I want. On my desk, it's just nice not to have wires running all around in front of me.
And I got the G613 for like $80 during Best Buy's Black Friday sale. It's MSRP is $150 iirc.
That Kinesis company has a couple deals going right now.
Get their new Vektor RGB mouse for $10 off with the code vektorvip10 (it's wired, though).
Get the mouse and an XL Desk Mat for $25 off with vektorvip25.
Get the mouse, the mat, and the Freestyle Edge keyboard for $50 off with vektorvip50.
The coupon codes do not stack.
e: I really like their keyboards so I'm tempted to pickup their mouse to try it out. Especially since I could pick it up for only $35.

Oh, for people who use Massdrop, you can get the keyboard by itself for a much reduced price of $170: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/kinesis-freestyle-split-mechanical-keyboard
You will definitely want to pick up a lift kit with it, too. Completely worth the additional cost.

CS plebs do. In 2018, no less.
By DominicanPower Go To PostWhy don't you use the regular twitter site?Like in another Firefox window? I'm not sure I could make it work in that configuration, since you can't set the width of columns / UI in the browser (zooming out might be an option, but it'd probably make the text too small, idk).
Haven't really tried fucking around with it. I kind of like the idea of having a dedicated Twitter app.
Twitter uses bootstrap so you will get a layout similar to if you used your phone's browser to access the website. With that said, the website is a pretty big resource hog if kept open and used a lot.
By Kibner Go To PostTwitter uses bootstrap so you will get a layout similar to if you used your phone's browser to access the website. With that said, the website is a pretty big resource hog if kept open and used a lot.It becomes a slog after while. That's why I'm always refreshing the site if I scroll down too much.
The problem with the web version is that you can't (far as I know) get rid of the useless left column (profile pic, trends & shit), which makes the whole thing too wide for my alloted space (500-600px wide column).
What a zeit to be vivo, my amici. Trump is president of the US, Intel is about to lose its process edge in what, 3 or 4 decades. End times.
Kibner have you heard of this keyboard?
an analog keyboard and you are able to change out each switch per key as long as they remain flaretech switches. so you can have some that are linear, some that are not. and of course it has rgb, but it's the much better logitech method (per key lighting).

By Smokey Go To PostKibner have you heard of this keyboard?I have not. It's real interesting. Not sure if I would be able to use the analog feature effectively. 55g is kinda heavy for me but maybe that's needed for making it easier to operate the analog switches.

Still watching the video. The software is super nice. Tons of customization allowed and it looks very clean. I really like how you can mix and match switches on the keyboard if you want. He demonstrates the analog functionality of it, and it looks neat. Going to keep an eye out on this board.

Computer update:
Was looking at the BIOSTAR TZ77XE4 but then I remembered... I never did OC the computer and with it being old I'm not now. Why am I getting a Z77 board (supports OCing and Crossfire), it's only going to use 1 card anyway.
Started looking at the H77 boards and I see the ASRock H77 Pro 4/MVP, I'm trying to find H77 mobos that are similar to the TZZ7B but:
- ATX/mid-ATX
- Audio is Realtek ALC892 or better
EDIT: Currently researching
ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP
Asus P8H77-V
Intel DH77KC
Gigabyte GA-H77-DS3H
Asus P8H77-V LE
MSI ZH77A-G43
