By RobNBanks Go To PostIdk. When it first came out I loved it. Installed it when I built my PC and I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much.
To be honest, some of the decisions they've made over the past year have left me scratching my head as to why things have been introduced into the game. A lot of it has genuinely degraded the game in my opinion.
Lion, Finka, Doki, all having global abilities, Glaz seeing through smoke now, making Blitz a two speed shield op that can fucking sprint with his shield up and so on. Despite that though, I can still sit down and play for 4 hours or more and enjoy the game.

Ooof, I paid a premium for this baby. Pretty sure it’s the only true two slot card with a triple fan cooler for the 2080Ti.
Oh boy, oh boy! you ready for these benchmark numbers?
Siege at 4K with my normal settings
1080p (excuse the weird minimums, the Siege benchmark has inconsistent hiccups).
I also ran an 8K benchmark and averaged 40FPS! That's double what you get on consoles at 1080p!

Happy with the look of it, like a knock off Strix. Temps seem good too, haven't touched the fan curves yet but it's boosting to 1950mhz at stock and staying under 80c.

What a beast
Fits perfectly in the case too
By diehard Go To PostSo does that SFF have vents on that panel side?
Yeah man. Top and sides are vented fully, and the bottom has vented slats for a fan/92mm radiator.

It's definitely snug in there. Temps are fantastic though.
yeah that's a damn nice setup
so i had one of my sticks of ram fail last week, sent it off for replacement which was a surprisingly quick process... but what they sent me back has a lower clock speed and different timings... how important is that? everything seems to be running okay for now, but i only just installed it a few minutes ago

So I think my match last night is the one that made me fully quit playing CS. After 17 rounds I had 32 kills, 4 more than the rest of my team combined. I get a 3k and they’re on eco so easy win right? No, my team is that fucking stupid they plant the bomb and while all 3 of them are on site, somehow lets the CT defuse (he wasn’t even hiding in a smoke, just out in the open defused)
I wanted to throw my PC out the window.

I’ve yet to find a game that has such a highs. Granted I’ve been experiencing a lot of lows since I came back but pulling off a clutch 1v3 to keep your team in the game is such a great feeling. I’ve yet to feel it in anything else. Getting an ace or the amazing comeback when you’re down 10 rounds.
I like PUBG and Quake but I never had anything make me feel that same satisfaction. Closest thing was coming back down 0-2 in Quake while the other guy is feeling himself and then winning the next 3 rounds 9 kills to 0

This gigabyte cooler on the 2080Ti is impressing me. Seems so much quieter and less whiny that the EVGA SC2 cooler. I could play without headphones on and not feel annoyed by it despite being an arms length from it.

Which exact model did you end up going with?

big facts
Which EVGA 1080ti cards were suffering from overheating? I'm eyeing a 1080ti SC2 non-ICX, which I think was one of those cards?
It was the 1080/1070's that overheated and some straight up exploded. I have the 1080ti SC2 and love it, never had any problems. They went ahead and over did the cooling if anything on the 1080ti's as a result.
Ah, that's cool then. Do you have the ICX version or the non-ICX? I'm not crazy, right? There are two versions of the SC2?
Yeah I got the iCX apparently. I dont really remember making that decision though, had to go look in email inbox to see.
I installed Assassin's Creed Unity just to see how it'd do with my 2080Ti. Everything maxed at 4k (Ultra High) and using MFAA (haven't heard that in a while), I'm sitting around 45-50fps during gameplay, and it dips to 30s in cutscenes lol. Ubi was really on one with this game 4 years ago. There's TONS of detail in the game, but it does have some of that early gen jankyness. Regardless, I thought it was wild that a 2080Ti was getting mid 40s here, albeit at 4k. I can only imagine the struggle trying to play this at the high end around release, or even after, once they addressed the glitches and everything else.
Here's a shot in the past that I found on the old site, Assassin's Creed Unity Performance thread

Ok so I played up until it said I couldn't anymore...needed to finish installing.
My setup -
4930k @ 4.3ghz
16GB RAM
Win 8.1
3x GTX Titan Blacks
ROG Swift Gysnc monitor - 2560x1440
Samsung EVO SSD - game installed here
344.65 AC Unity Game Ready Driver
So first thing I did was crank everything to the Ultra High. I changed Refresh Rate to 144hz. Shadow Quality PCSS. AO HBAO+. MSAA-8x. 2560x1440 w/ Gsync enabled.
So performance -- I was in the 40fps range. The clocks on card 1 were different than the clocks on cards 2/3. 2 and 3 were the same. My GPU usage was pretty low...in the 70s.
The game used 6GB VRAM. A couple times it exceeded that.
Despite all of that it was smooth. But that is probably Gsync going to work. I tried to restart and change AA to TXAA but apparently I can't start over? I can only continue and it's at a point where I have to wait for install to finish.
So yeah...my system is an outlier and I realize that. There could also be something with the engine not liking Gysnc who knows. I haven't been able to try due to the issues above. Haven't even got a chance to see how it performs in crowds. So those are my very early Tri-SLI impressions.
For reference I played Far Cry 3 last weekend completely maxed and my GPUs were in the 85+ range. I realize it's an older game, but still wanted to test and see how some UBI titles handled 3 GPUs.
I must've needed a restart of the game after messing with settings, as I've got everything still at Highest, but MSAA @ 2x (with MFAA) and I'm much closer to 60 or even above now. Game still looks great.
Looking back and knowing what I know now, I'm pretty sure I was being CPU limited at 2560x1440 with 3 GPUs. Even with 6c/12t at 4.3ghz.
By HottestVapes Go To PostImagine spending 3K on GPUs just to be smacked in the face with 40FPS. Oof.

Oh shit that was your post that you dig up? I need to get around to buying Unity and trying it out.
Need to get around to downloading Crysis 3 as well and see how it holds up for me.
Still need to get a 4K monitor too. That’s a priority right now since my poor R5 1600 is going to melt if I keep playing at 1080p with the 2080Ti. It’s getting waxed to 90% utiliization playing Siege. All threads on fire and still not pushing over 200fps average

Yeah that was my post, 4 years ago. I've been playing Unity for most of the evening. Actually got you doing assassin tings vs Origins/Odyssey.

Yeah, 700 series.
EVGA 1080ti SC2 it is.

Oof
But the price is good.
The price of gaming-oriented HDR monitors continues to drop, judging by a new model from LG. The 32UK550-B has 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution, supports HDR10, covers 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color range and supports AMD's FreeSync tech at up to 60 Hz. It also supports over a billion colors and is factory calibrated, all for less than $500. The monitor is only available in Japan for now, but is likely to come to North America and Europe as well. .
At that price, something has to give. In this case, it's the fact that the display uses a VA, rather than IPS panel, so don't expect fantastic viewing angles. LG's IPS monitors will cost you, however -- the 32UD99-W 32-inch 4K IPS monitor is double the price at $1,000.
Brightness is also just 300 nits, not high enough meet the DisplayHDR group's minimum standard, though it should be enough for the average use.

I’m waiting on the the Acer XB3, or whatever the fuck they’re calling it. The cheaper 4K/144hz Gsync monitor that’s on the way:
Kinda tempted by that Korean 4K/120hz monitor too. It’s only HDR 400 and there’s no gsync or freesync but it’s only a grand for a fucking hueg 120hz/4K screen.
Don't think I will willingly buy another HDR display until the halo'ing issue is sorted out. It is very obvious to me and is annoying as all fuck. I will be waiting a long time, I know.

That is exactly what he means. RIP.
It's depressing to think that we might have to wait another 5-7 years for monitors with self-emitting tech. OLED was a mistake.

Tbf I only notice it of the screen is completely black, but it's a valid concern. Dunno how they can avoid it using fald tho.
