The best feature is being able to easily recline. The big things aeon has over it is smaller, more adjustments to get the best fit, and mesh so yo ass and back don't sweat as much and stink up the chair.
I love how some companies make stuff gaming by slapping on unnecessary plastic or throwing on bright colors. That's why I loved the Mpow 2019 Gaming Headset, solid metal construction with basic black features.
It does have an RGB though but no one is perfect.

I love mine. Could literally lay almost horizontal lol.
By The Frankman Go To PostWhat kind of temps you get idle and load? I am more than comfortable going Evo 212 or Nocturna air, but I've been trying to give water cooling a fair shot since I'm biased against it (after that video smokey posted like a year ago). I'm not about refilling filters yet when I OC I need that stuff to stay reliably cool; I need some longevity from this machine for like 3-4 years I'm not about that 70c life.
Throwing in my 2c.
I’m on the opposite end of the air cooling spectrum from Kibner. I use a Silverstone AR11 heatsink with a Noctua fan. All in, it’s roughly 47mm tall. Despite that it cools an i5 9600K adequately at stock settings. Overclocking is off the table, however I don’t feel the need to given I’m playing at 4K and the load is firmly on the GPU.
By adequately, it peaks at 81-82c, which I’m okay with given it makes barely any noise.
Before that, I was using a 92mm Asetek AIO (545LC), also with a Noctua fan. It was absolutely fantastic for thermals given the size of it. Over 15c cooler at load despite a really quiet poor placement in the case I have (pump was higher than the radiator, the fan was exhausting warm GPU air through the radiator).
The downside was noise, it was much louder than the air cooler due to using a smaller fan (92mm at 2000-2500RPM vs 120mm at 1200-1500RPM).
Idle temps for both were 35-40c.
Load temps 82c for air, 65c for the AIO.
Awesome, thanks so much for all the input guys.
Just nabbed a new Asus Dual 1070 card for under $300... then I remembered 1070s have a minimum power ratings of 500w for the power supply. Looks like I'm buying a new PSU now.

I have one of those too and love it. Can't use those racing chairs and I stick to them and sweat like crazy in them due to the Australian summer and humidity. The mesh back on the Markus and high headrest is great for me.
Corsair set to release a 750w SFX PSU.
Their SF450/600 PSUs are pretty much the top of the range as for as SFX PSUs go. The newer platinum rated SF450/600 even come with proper sleeved cables so they don’t look like shit in a build.

So the "entertainment PC at work" project I spearheaded is DOA. Suffice it to say that somebody snitched. Productive cunt.
On the bright side, my parents' Christmas gift is thus sorted.
I'm thinking of going with my original plan of getting a low-powered-but-still-usable & very portable secondary PC. Laptops are out of the question, as I absolutely loathe them. Right now I'm looking at NUCs.

e2: that fanless case also does a much better job at cooling than the stock case, despite not having fans
Acoustic performance wouldn't be much of an issue in my work environment. A fanless case would also make the whole thing quite a bit larger. I'm a known silence fetishist tho, so this is all still very, very appealing to me. I can definitely see myself getting one such enclosure at some point.
I guess I should start by asking which of the thousand different NUC generations and models I should be looking at. I'm okay with buying a used / older model, if it can handle browsing and 4K video playback and handle it well. The naming scheme of these things is pure Intel fuckery.
Also, I did manage to find what looks like a solid DVI KVM switch in the end, the Aten CS682. Only paid 15€ for it and it's practically brand new.

Now just need the PSU and I'm good to go.
EDIT: Decided to future proof the PSU and will get a 750w 80+ Gold, Should be more than enough for OCing.

From what I'm reading on reddit it sounds like I should stay away from Celeron NUCs and really anything below 7th gen i5, which sounds about right.
I got one of the newer i7s because I had visions of using it to encode streams over ethernet. Sadly, I can't get that functionality working.

Getting a PCPartpicker rating of about 275w so far. Usually you choose a PSU wattage that's 50-60% so it runs at max efficiency. I will overclock my machine in the future (decided not to do it for now), should I get a 750 watt PSU instead of a 650w?
I need a new power supply so I can use my 1070 since 450w is below the recommended wattage.

If money's not an issue, get a quality PSU with 7-10 years warranty. It will probably last you at last that long, so it's something worth investing in.

After checking with the ResetEra PC Thread 750w is probably overkill until I start doing all the resource intensive things I plan (lol key word) to do, but I can get it cheap so whatever. Unless anyone knows of any issues that one has or knows of a better 750w.
Looks good. I paid 130€ for the similarly spec'd Corsair RM750i almost two years ago. At that price, go for it.

Breh, I’m running a 2080Ti overclocked on 600w. Buy a quality PSU, and you’d be fine with 450w. 500-600w if you want that reassurance, but go for a quality PSU over just higher wattage ratings (Platinum 500w > bronze 650w for example)

EDIT: Seasonic FOCUS 650 Gold SSR-650FM 650W 80+ Gold
EVGA 650 GQ (the better versions are the G2 and G3, but they're close to $100)
Antec EarthWatts Gold Pro 650W Power Supply - They partnered with SeaaSonic so this should be good. Been buying Antec PSUs for awhile.
One small factor to consider is that most of these new PSUs won't turn on the fan until you reach ~40% of max wattage and will start scaling the fan's speed once you go over that limit. So the lower wattage rating PSU you go with, the easier it'll be to cross that threshold.
Though it's really kind of a moot point, since you'll be hearing your GPU / CPU fans over the PSU one anyway, in what's likely the only case in which you'll be sucking that much power from the socket, i.e. gaming.
I'd go with the Seasonic for sure.

the EVGA G3 650w was like $50 recently, there must not be any PSU deals going on.
Newegg does have the 850w Seasonic Focus Plus for $90 and a $20 MIR right now (Amazon has the same, but a $15 MIR). Even if you don't use the MIR, it's worth the $11 for the fully modular cables.

Anyone got any recommendations on a good external blu ray player for PC? Not as interested in burning capability, just playback.
By Laboured Go To PostAnyone got any recommendations on a good external blu ray player for PC? Not as interested in burning capability, just playback. Not really. As a rule of thumb I'd say stay away from the no-brand ultraslim ones. I have one such external dvd-rw drive. It gets the job done, but it's loud as hell and emanates an aura of impending doom whenever the disc is spinning.
I'm not sure you'll even be able to find a player-only blu-ray drive. Most are read/write combos. Take a look at what Pioneer and Asus have to offer.
