“It was kind of underwhelming,” he said in the press Q&A.
Huang said the performance of AMD’s Ryzen VII was weak compared to the performance of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060, unveiled on Sunday night. He noted 40 gaming laptops are coming based on Nvidia’s 2060, 2080, and Max-Q technology this year. Regarding AMD, he said the Ryzen VII didn’t have real-time ray tracing or another feature dubbed DLSS, which can sharpen and speed frame rates.
“I think they just thought of it this morning,” he joked.
Smokey, is your first name Jensen?
I don’t know who posted this but I think it aged well 👀
If AMD could put 16 cores on a die, have them boost upto 5.1Ghz and remain within a 135w TDP while still remaining compatible with the AM4 socket. Frankly I think they’d be singing about it already and would’ve dropped the announcement right around the 9900K launch to put a huge dampener on Intel.
Now I don’t doubt that they could release a 16/32t AM4 socket CPU, but if they did I think they’d be showing their hand far too soon and undercutting their own Threadripper market share.
The listed clockspeeds aren’t in line at all with any previous leak, and last time a Ryzen CPU was stated to have such high clockspeeds it was prior to the Ryzen 2000 launch and well, look how that turned out.

By Laboured Go To PostWhat is objectively the best 2080ti, just facts no opinions plsI'm guessing you aren't going to be doing extreme overclocking and don't need to look into which one has the best VRM setup. So it's whatever you can get for cheapest and whatever has the best warranty

Probably EVGA kingpin or MSI lightning that have recently been announced since they’ve got higher power limits that the currently available cards.

No release dates I'm guessing?

I haven’t had chance to catch up on all the coverage yet. I just know that 2080Ti are majorly power limited and the cards that have the highest power limit headroom tend to do the best.
This is all in regards to overclocking anyway. You buy pre builds tho, so I’m guessing you don’t know what that is.

Don't even know what GPUs are tbh was just trying to sound cool.
By HottestVapes Go To PostYou're getting 8 cores at 4.5Ghz, 4.6Ghz maximum. IPC close to Skylake, if not on par with. Don't believe the hype.

AMD has ray tracing GPUs in development, too“
Nvidia is pushing its RTX ray tracing technology hard, both in terms of desktop graphics cards as well as the introduction of its first mobile RTX GPUs here at CES. But Su said that AMD also has its own ray tracing technology in development, though she was cagey when asked about details.
I think ray tracing is an important technology, and it’s something we’re working on as well, both from a hardware and software standpoint,” Su said. “The most important thing, and that’s why we talk so much about the development community, is technology for technology’s sake is okay, but technology done together with partners who are fully engaged is really important.”
Nvidia has received some criticism from enthusiasts concerning the price of its RTX cards and the relative of lack of game support at present. Su indicated that building a development ecosystem was important.
Later, Su expanded on her thought. “I don’t think we should say that we are ‘waiting,’” Su said, in response to this reporter’s question. “We are deep in development, and that development is concurrent between hardware and software.”
“The consumer doesn’t see a lot of benefit today because the other parts of the ecosystem are not ready,” Su added.
Not the first murmurs from AMD regarding ray tracing, I recall them talking up an API for it (something to do with DX12 I think?) not too long ago.

Depending on when it actually releases, price, what else is available at that moment in time & how much I'll be able to recoup from selling my Predator X34A, I might spring for the 37.5" LG 38GL905 ultrawide.
It'd be more of a sidegrade than anything, but I want that ~38" 144hz goodness. And RGB, of course.
Resolution is a potential concern at 3840 x 1600 though.

What we need is emissive fucking tech in our monitors. I'm sick of this LCD cavaloshit. Save us, Dell.
I honestly thought we'd all be rocking OLED (or equivalent) monitors by 2020. Zabodamus has failed.

I wanna see that lg monitor in person, it sounds great but might be too big for me

By HottestVapes Go To PostI don’t get it. 3440x1440 is lower but that’s regarded as fine?3440x1440 is okay on a 34" uw. 3840x1600 on a 37.5" uw should come to around the same ppi, if my math is correct.
It should be fine, but a couple hundred pixels extra wouldn't hurt to complete the upgrade trifecta coming from the X34A (size, refresh rate, ppi).

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2019-01-11-amd-release-first-radeon-7-benchmark-results-in-25-games
First up is 2017 title Ghost Recon Wildlands, where the Radeon 7 sits ahead of the Vega 64, GTX 1080, RTX 2060 and RTX 2070. However, it falls behind the GTX 1080 Ti, RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti. The new AMD card is definitely closer to the GTX 1080 Ti than the GTX 1080, but it's disappointing that a new high-end card from AMD can't surpass Nvidia's last-generation flagship given its much more advanced 7nm process. However, on the plus side, the fact that our RX Vega 64 benchmark matches AMD's to within margin of error at least demonstrates that the tests are on the level - something we don't always see with manufacturer-supplied benchmarks.
