Family dynamics are always a sight to behold, especially when someone seems like an otherwise okay person but it turns out they abuse or neglect their children. To me that says it all if I were honest. People are about perceptions but in private if they're a shitbag, that's pretty much who they really are because they're not fronting for folks. Some will say "its complicated" but it's really not that complicated to cut checks and be grateful to a son who donates his bone marrow.
Report: Chris Paul unpopular as union president, because he has prioritized stars
The NBA’s 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement helped star players.
A new super-max contract allows players with eight or nine years experience to earn more money than they would’ve otherwise. The regular max increased. The over-36 rule became the over-38 rule, which applies to everyone, but stars are far more likely to get offered long-term deals that deep into their career.
Ethan Sherwood Strauss of The Athletic:
The reign of CP3 is not popular with the NBA’s lower classes
Some players around the league laughed when union president Chris Paul and his massive contract got dealt to the rebuilding Thunder for Russell Westbrook. Why? Because Paul’s regime is not viewed as one devoted to serving the NBA’s middle and lower classes.
“They advocate for the interests of max players and super-max players,” one veteran player said of Paul and company. “Basically, the CBA has helped the whole banana boat crew from back in the day. It’s taken from the midlevel. I think middle-tier players aren’t getting that mid level money anymore.
“I think just that huge super max has had cost. Teams are putting all their eggs in one basket to keep that super-max guy. It’s dried up the salary cap. I don’t see it as sustainable long term.”

Tough shit. Maybe they'll go back to Seattle.
Westbrook is literally uncontrollable. The team parts the seas to get him a triple double. He personally calls out Rubio therefore making it about himself, and gets 4 first half fouls. 3 fouls in the first you HAVE to go to the bench. Just have to. Especially with someone as emotional as Westbrook. Donovan folds and leaves him in the game. He went out last year in 5 against the Rockets in the first round, and it's not looking good this year.
I can't understand why he keeps getting a pass tbh

I wonder if a future CBA would institute a cap rule that would prevent teams from being allowed to max (or close to max) 2 or more players.
Made me think that about those social media posts about picking 5 players with $10 and each player has a monetary value, with $5 being the highest. Sort of makes sense to the build the league like that for parity sake, no?

It's a weird spot in that the top end guys are under paid, but ageing stars are on bad contracts at the same time.
If i'm the mid level guys i'm salty after the last CBA, the way it's played out. But i'm not sure anyone really expected the current situation.
SUper Max Wall.

For players that are underpaid, would you all cap that at the top 5 or so, or would you go as deep as top 10?
Outside of the ten best players, it does seem pretty crazy that maxes are going out and crunching what the average players can earn, but I think the only way you actually keep gms from handing out multiple maxes is by having a hard cap on the number of roster spots at certain tiers but keeping the overall cap the same.

I've been wondering for a while now about how long until they go back to allowing six year+ contracts to try and stifle some of the player movement. I guarantee a ton of owners are in Silver's ear freaking out about free agency and how they screwed themselves by limiting deals to four or five years.

AD and PG both forced trades with years left on contract
I've had lots of crazy ideas on how to deal with contracts and the idea that there are apparently 60 max players in the league somehow, but maybe it all comes down to if the owners want to fuck their franchises over, that's on them.
Yeah, I can't see a way to ensure better parity without leaving owners more vulnerable to fucking themselves over with long + bad contracts.
I can see something where each team has a guaranteed amount of buyout money each season (from revenue sharing) that can rollover to a certain amount as a percentage of the salary cap in order to help alleviate bad contracts while not giving richer teams a much bigger margin of error to lesser valued teams. But the owners would never agree to something like that.
By Fenderputty Go To PostAD and PG both forced trades with years left on contractDavis at least had the leverage of walking away next summer and putting them in a position of losing him for nothing. Which is a pretty common thing for stars to do. Kevin Love did the same thing to the Wolves.
I don't agree with the idea of bringing back six or seven year deals because then we're back where we were 15 years ago and all these teams can't help themselves and suddenly have all this dead money like Rashard Lewis or Gilbert Arenas. But I can't help but think it's something these idiot owners would entertain because it helps keep their stars in place longer.
Coach Nick has always had a level of hate for Westbrook that would make even Branduil blush. I wouldn't trust him on anything he says about Russell.

He may hate on Westbrook but it's not like that video brought up issues everyone else ain't already side eyeing. They're both ball dominate, westbrook can't shoot and Harden doesn't play off ball.
Owners just stuck being a microcosm of what's wrong with society. They want their success now and think incredibly short term. Try to just grab up whomever for a W rather than play a longer game of developing players and a culture folks actually want to stay in. GS couldn't keep that up cause they got greedy and Lacob always been a shit, Gilbert a shit too. Then you got teams that can't even get off the ground at all because they're owned by Dolan or MJ or Sarver. Face it, the NBA just got a slew of owners running teams like shit. Then you also got the issue of teams just not developing players, having sketch medical staff and generally cheaping out in that avenue.
