What was your Game of the Year?
Simple rules. What single game did you enjoy the most last year?
For me, without question it was Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls on PS4.
I put well over 100 hours into that game and had a blast doing it.
Great time with couch co-op. Good updates from Blizzard, adding needed changes and content to bring the console version closer to the PC version.
It was the perfect game for what I needed for a quick pick up and play experience that I could play while listening to lectures/podcasts/music. I found a great group of players online that I spent my time rifting and trading loot with.
No game killing crazy glitches or bugs.
No broken online.
No unnecessary grinds for mediocre loot.
Oh and legendary loot was fantastic. Legendaries EVERYWHERE.
How about all of you?

Literally just the quick game mode in 2k15. I dont like myteam, park or mycareer at all.
Or The Last of Us Remastered idk.

I'm stuck between Transistor, Destiny, and Dragon Age: I
I mean.... Destiny is clearly flawed as fuck. Like damn. They don't even know that they don't even know what they're doing. But dat gunplay tho. 292 hours total invested and I can't say I regret any of it. Love the game.
Transistor, for the price, is probably my purchase of the year. Amazing quality top to bottom. Draws you in with every feature. Gameplay is solid and consistently challenging. Soundtrack of the year.
Dragon Age: I is may as well be everything I ever wanted out of a WRPG.
I'm stuck :/

2014 was just like....the fully realized version(sequel, expansion etc) of this is probably gonna be dope (Destiny, TitanFall, Watchdogs, Assassin Creed, Metal Gear)
Have over 200 hours of Destiny....but no way am I saying that's GoTY. Didn't finish Dark Souls 2, and I don't have a WiiU...so maybe next year I can put together a decent list.

Well, the game I played the most was CS GO, and that came out years ago.
2014 was an awful year for games. Dark Souls 2 was incredibly disappointing, and neither of the new of the new consoles convinced me to buy them.
Ground Zeroes was probably my favorite new game, but even that is an 1 hour long demo lmao

Most hours it's NBA hands down...
but I would like to say that a game that would indeed make my list would be Xenonauts..

I played like four games this year and they were all old, but the best was BioShock Infinite. So that. That is my 2014 Game of the Year.
I may have to agree with Diablo. I had only played one of those types of games before (the very fun XBLA Torchlight) and this game grabbed me even more than that did. I almost didn't buy it either, but I bought it on a whim not knowing how much I would get out of it.
Turns out quite a bit. It is something I have played consistently since release and has not disappointed me (which is more than I can say for games like CoD: AW alloy dand Destiny. Fuck those games). Great co-op game, great podcast game. Also really enjoyed my time with Mordor , very fun game.
Also shout out to Spelunky. Got back into it this year in a big way. Probably one of my favorite games of all time and spent so much time in there working to finally beat Yama and get those achievement (all except that damned low scorer!).
Maybe DA: I would be up there but I am only a few hours in.

Mario Kart 8. It's like the craziest thing to look at ever.
I put about 120 hours into it. I did everything there was to do. I got all the DLC. I got amiibos. My girlfriend and I spent hours online. I played 4 player matches with my family. I solo 3 starred every cup. Everybody who plays this game loves it. I'm still looking forward to the second round of DLC in May.
Funny thing is I wasn't even going to get it, I mostly picked it up because the hype finally got to me and Nintendo had that get-a-free-game promo going. I chose Pikmin 3 and haven't even touched it yet.
Other than that, there was a lot of stuff that came out this year that I liked - Ground Zeroes, FF XIV Realm Reborn (PS4 version), Shovel Knight, but MK8 was the only thing that I really wound up loving.

Barely played any new games this year. Probably Divinity: Original Sin if I had to choose (fuck Dragon Age & Bioware). South Park and Defense Grid 2 were the others I really enjoyed.

Inquisition probably. I hate to have boring picks like that, but for a game of its scale and visual prowess it's an incredibly well made AAA title. And relatively bug free when you consider the scope.
By giririsssDota 2.
Would have been DA:I but i really hesitate to install origin.
Thought I was the only person to play Dota 2 here. Nice.
I only 2 games I played from this year are Smash and MK 8. Dat backlog!
Bravely Default. The first time in a long time I actually felt like I was playing an RPG from SE. They show that they CAN produce an original IP RPG worthy for public consumption. So when they release shit , I know it's not for a lack of creativity or skills. It's because SE is lazy and/or money hungry. Can't wait for the sequel.

Such a relaxing, beautiful, but challenging experience. And it's the best demonstration of the Gamepad thus far.
For me it's hard to pick this year.
The game I played most was Spelunky, even though it wasn't originally released in 2014. One of my favorite games of all time.
Other games that are up there:
The Last of Us: Remastered
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Mario Kart 8
Far Cry 4
Smash Bros for Wii U
Had lots of fun with all of these.
I would like to try Pikmin 3 but it is impossible to find right now and there is no way I am paying 60 dollars on a game on the eshop with nintendo's current account setup.

I got it for free along with another game (MK8 I think?).
Dark Souls 2.
It gets a lot of hate for the ways in which it's worse than the first one, but not enough love for the ways it's better.
Also, the real answer is Dota 2 but it didn't come out this year. Those map/rune changes tho.

Smash Bros, no matter how brilliant a single player game is, MP sessions with friends is unbeatable and Smash is the king.

It's in the queue. There are 5 games ahead of it, but 4 of them are 60-75% done & the other one is CoD Ghosts which'll only take a couple of days.
I had tons of fun this year with Smash Bros. and Bayonetta 2 so if I had to choose it would probably be a toss up between those two, but honestly the best game I played last year (even though it didn't come out in 2014) was Arkham City. Outstanding game, and it even got me into the Batman comics/animated movies.
For me it was Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition. It was just as amazing as I had anticipated and is currently my 2nd favorite Final Fantasy of all time, behind FF7.
My runner up is Valkyria Chronicles 4. I put 100 hours into it and really enjoyed the updated gameplay. It improved on the original in every way.

I only play games with friends these days and all that time in 2018 went between PUBG, Destiny 2 and Warthunder. Got Destiny 2 in 2018 so that i guess.
I still really need to check out that bot suggestion though..

Both Valkyria Chronicles 4 & Final Fantasy XV were top-notch quality games, however, admittedly they are not for everyone... :s Bought both pieces really cheap, and I'm still enjoying the worlds these titles made possible <3
