The Synthwave Thread | Electric Dreams
I first discovered synthwave after playing Hotline Miami, and since then it has been my go-to music genre which I listen to nearly every single day, so I thought I would make a thread where we can share and discover new tracks
Some artists to kick things off:
As a fairly evil ice breaker, what is your favourite track? I'm going to have to go with Carpenter Brut's Le Perv on the Carpenter Brut Live album, a track I could listen to all day and not get bored of.

Saw Carpenter Brut live twice this year already, love their rendition of She's a maniac.
Also love Magic Swords getting love in the new Thor.

Any ideas for a cover image?
That's the point of the thread!
By Random Ass Username Go To PostMind if I just dump random tracks in here from time to time?

^ been listening to Crystalline non-stop
their She's A Maniac cover is amazing, they put up the live version on youtube a few months ago after a lot of requests (nsfw video)

Also, I wouldn't really call these two synthwave in the strictest sense, but you'll find a lot of stylistic similarities if you're into anyone already listed on this page. I have a thing for the current(ish) crop of throwback-synth/horror/giallo fictional soundtrack artists:
Matt Akers
If you've ever got into any John Carpenter soundtracks, you really should just listen to everything Matt has released on Bandcamp. All analogue (sequencers too, I believe), straight to cassette, this is the audio equivalent of the weekly horror section at the video store if you were a kid in the 80s. Or if you weren't, but you've been loving the Stranger Things score and wishing that you were.
Maybe start with these:
The Elders of New Detroit
Unused Score For "La Puntura Velenosa Delle Notte"
The Future Barbarians
Umberto
Haven't been feeling a lot of newer Umberto, but these two still get regular rotation:
Prophecy of the Black Widow

I dig the music in Lucio Fulci's horror movies, the OG
By Bold 2 in One Go To PostThe more I listen to carpenter brut the less inclined I am to believe it is synthwave
synthwave is a very broad genre which can include metal, pop, hip-hop, jazz and so on.
Dance With The Dead sounds very different from The Midnight and so does Carpenter Brut, but they're all synthwave. it's more of a feeling, of nostalgia for the 80s.
Le Matos is gr8, Join Us is a top album
been listening to this a lot after seeing it in the resetera thread (song starts at 1:00):
