Been doing some brainstorming lately. Thinking of getting a Morpheus II or NZXT G12 for my 2080Ti and switching back to my Cougar QBX case as a placeholder for an NCase or possibly a Lian Li TU150 (when it releases). I'm leaning towards the Morpheus II since it works out cheaper (already have the fans) and GPU sag would be a non-issue in the QBX or NCase since it's a super snug fit with 15mm fans at the bottom of either case.

😏
It’s a drug, but it’s a good drug.
I think I read something about another dancase being worked on, which will be better suited for water cooling, maybe it fits your needs?
edit it's from this thread but seems like the design is still changing a lot, and it won't fit a morpheus ii if that's what you're going for

It’s a long ways off still and isn’t really ideal for me.
I’m wanting something that’ll house a thick GPU heatsink with two 120mm fans (standard or slim), glass side window, decent air cooling support (AIO is a bonus) and comes in under 30cm tall total for the case.
NCase ticks all the boxes, as does the QBX I already have minus the side window.
Lian Li’s TU150 may be ideal too, however the specs aren’t finalised yet. InWin A1 is also a contender but I’m unsure on the clearance for an Morpheus II on a GPU in that case, also not a fan of the pre-installed PSU.
Hmm, The Arctic Accelero IV officially supports the 2080Ti, they even offer the 14 pin fan converters to hook fans up to the GPU. It's also only 45 raheems on Amazon, which is fantastic value. I'd have to buy some 25mm thick 120mm fans for it but that just gives me an excuse to try out Noctua's new sterrox fans.
I WANT to upgrade jfc
My 4930k released in July 2013, which was just a refresh of the 3930k which came out in 2011 iirc.
Just need a CPU, RAM, and mobo. That's it. But I still get 4k60+. I can't convince myself to jump :(

4930k is Ivy Bridge-E so it's legit better than the Sandy Bridge-E 3930k
If you want a reason to upgrade don't look at your average frame-rates, look at your frame-times and minimum framerates. Also, you chose that 4k always-gpu-bound lifestyle.

True story about frametimes. It just easier to glance and see what my fps is. Everything is super smooth at 4k tho.
Should I upgrade or nah.
And I posted a few days ago, I might look back into a 1440p HRF monitor for a secondary.

Reminds me I need to start working on the custom RAM / VRM cooler for my 1080ti. (Though there really is no need for it.) Haven't had time since I bought this fine piece of aluminium heatsink.

Sounds logical
but fuk logic tbh

Been looking into the IV, seems that the backplate it comes with will require a little bit of modding but it seems legit.
By HottestVapes Go To PostYeah man, I recommended it to you!I wouldn't be able to fit the IV's thick backplate because of my giant CPU cooler, so I went with the III. Installation was pretty painless.

Ran BF V at 1440p, Ultra, and RTX enabled.
Played smooth too. Had that look of playing on a non native res though, but beyond that performance was great.
Now I really want a dedicated 1440p set. I know Dell has one that's like $300.

Worth going with a Z390 board over Z370 if you don't need wi-fi and don't particularly care about super fast USB? Probably not, right?
I'm helping a bud with his new build. He's going with either the 8700k or 9900k.
What's the best bang for buck Z370 (or Z390, I guess) board these days? He won't be overclocking past max turbo on all cores, I reckon.

By Zabojnik Go To PostWorth going with a Z390 board over Z370 if you don't need wi-fi and don't particularly care about super fast USB? Probably not, right? The reasons would be down to the specific motherboard. Some Z390 refresh's got better VRM's, partly because of the 9900k. Gigabyte specifically put nice VRM's and cooling on their mid-range lineup. Now i just read that he won't be overclocking past turbo so maybe don't worry much about that.
By Adam Go To PostDon't get the lower end Asus Z390Yeah, I read about it. Guess it'll depend on the CPU he picks.

I'd rather not cash out on a laptop right before moving but the idea of spending under that amount just for a bandaid PC sucks.

What you trying to do? I don't think 800 will get you anything that will reliably game for instance.
By Smokey Go To PostWhat you trying to do? I don't think 800 will get you anything that will reliably game for instance. Some light video editing and games as a second priority I guess. I don't even plan to use it for more than my typical boring turn based stuff. I'll buy a full desktop later on during the year for that.

With G sync enable, my monitor flickers black twice when I turn it on. Not an issue with it being disabled.
Idk where this goes but I only just discovered Wallpaper Engine (few bucks on Steam) and I've been looking for something like this for so long.

By DY_nasty Go To PostNot sure if serious or hurtful ;_;Walmart actually came out with some laptops that weren't all that great their price and got a lot of shit about their whole PC line and wanted to clear stock. They had a model with a 6 core i7, 144hz panel, 256gb SSD & 1TB HDD with a GTX 1060 in it drop from like $1300 to $800 and it was a really good deal. I think they must all be sold out now though :/

I'll give it some more time since I was hoping to buy something new tonight but I'll hold off. Maybe post some links here.
