By kjack Go To PostIf he just brought the left foot back as he gathers, it's a legit step back. That step he throws in as he's bringing it back has to be a travel. He took four fucking steps. I wish the NBA would be forgiving for defensive rules.
I mean, unless he searched the rule books and discovered a loophole no one in NBA history realized could be exploited.
That step gives him free distance and can't be countered. It's cheat codes.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postman, no idea what kind of contract Portis will command in offseasonI'm not sure he's unhinged or anything, but due plays with an edge. He's in a bad spot playing out of position but still is bringing it just about every night. It's usually a good sign the player hasn't checked out.
Now Jabari... whew. That's going to be an interesting next contract.
By Netsradamus Go To PostIs it true that Zubac was traded for playing so well that it hurt McGee's feelings?Yes.

By blackace Go To PostThey been pretty clear that until a player gathers them steps don't count… look where his hand is on the ball when he does his jab stepnah that one was a travel, like the one he had against the Jazz that they admitted was a travel.
I could be wrong, i don't have their secret algorithm to determine travels.
By RATHasReturned Go To PostAGAIN, REALLY?look at it again... the jab step happens before the gather... hand is on top of the ball... then gathers with 2 steps and a jumper
By blackace Go To Postlook at it again… the jab step happens before the gather… hand is on top of the ball… then gathers with 2 steps and a jumperalmost all steps happen before a gather, why even bother dribbling at all? Why bother with asinine rules? Why are knowledgeable basketball people disagreeing about this?

By blackace Go To Postsee?Ive been watching this league for multiple decades now, i don't get my feeling hurt when they call it differently for different players. I'm still going to complain about it, though.
By diehard Go To Post12 straight misses for the Grizzlies, the flip has been switched.

It's like the Euro-step when it came, but even more so the NBA seemed to make sure the gather step was more clearly defined now even tho it looks wrong af to us older folks

By diehard Go To Posti mean, in a couple years those guys will being doing straight to the NBA instead of Duke so…Eh. I imagine they'll be drafted by NBA teams but play a year or two in the G-League first.
By reilo Go To PostEh. I imagine they'll be drafted by NBA teams but play a year or two in the G-League first. If they do it right... that will be the same thing
Who knows what the first year or two might look like, but I imagine it will eventually level off to the top 10-15 going into the draft out of high school, with the rest heading to college for at least a year.
By Pac-12 Go To PostWho knows what the first year or two might look like, but I imagine it will eventually level off to the top 10-15 going into the draft out of high school, with the rest heading to college for at least a year.Naw the NBA could kill NCAA by keeping the 19 year old rule in place for the NBA making kids play a year in the minors but for a check... also expand the draft to 3 rounds to fill out the minors... why go to college?

G-league doesn't pay shit. If that were an attractive option, kids would be going there now.
And there's no reason for G-league to pay better, either, because it's not like people go to those games or watch on television. The NCAA is a better marketing vehicle for the players than that.
By Pac-12 Go To PostG-league doesn't pay shit. If that were an attractive option, kids would be going there now. You're assuming that the NBA wouldn't promote the g league more, which would bring a bigger audience, which would bring higher pay.

G league is gonna be a better option than the transfer and anyone not looking to waste time at Weber State if they don't have to
By Pac-12 Go To PostG-league doesn't pay shit. If that were an attractive option, kids would be going there now.if you were drafted at 18 at number 1 and had to play a year in the g-league you'd still have number 1 pick contract... G-league doesn't pay shit because it's ran as a separate business not an extension of a team... if they ran it like baseball plus all the best players played 1 year minimum before going up how would the NCAA be a better vehicle?

I don't think there's really a draw there. No one watches minor league anything, but people will watch college football and basketball, and I don't think the NBA can kill that even if they tried.
scouting is the important part. the days of getting a second contract over a march madness run is over
colleges ain't developing guys like they used to. shit like duval going from top PG in the country to a nobody is killing the NCAA as a farm system

Minor league baseball doesn't pay shit, either, but the difference there is also that no one watches college baseball. There's nowhere to build your brand, so you might as well go pro. But if you're a kid that can be hidden on the Greensboro Swarm or starring for the North Carolina Tarheels, one of those is going to get you more money from Nike.
Again, the top 10-15 who will be first rounders are going straight to the league. It's the next cut that will still go to school.

Basketball has much more potential for that because 1 star can really make a difference.

And yet the average AAA salary is 12K per year. G-league actually pays better.
By Pac-12 Go To PostAnd yet the average AAA salary is 12K per year. G-league actually pays better.g-league's been trending upwards every year for the last 5 or 6 now
the guys who are first round picks can do whatever, build their names with big schools, etc - they'll be fine.
everyone else though? they actually have options now other than waiting their turn, kissing ass, and hoping they never have to play virginia

By blackace Go To PostSo NCAA will feature players like Coby White and make money?
Yes, because of the names on front of the jersey and March Madness. Unless the NBA drastically changes the G-league, college sports will be little different than the time before the one and done rule.
