The new Z4 exterior looks pretty good. I would need to see the interior in more detail to make a decent judgement call but even in those shots you can already see some of the trademark BMW plastics and textures. Not great but not terrible either.
The new 3 series seems like it is headed in the right direction. I like my Dad's F30 series but the steering feel is definitely the weak link in that car so any improvements in that department would be welcome.

Anyone here in California gonna go to Monterey for CarWeek?
I’ll be going on Saturday for Exotics on Cannery Row. Wednesday I’ll be at Canepa though since they have an open house.

That Z4 looks a little odd, for sure. I definitely see the Kia resemblance.
I might actually be getting back into a BMW in 9 months time once the the XF's lease is up and this time I'll be buying the family/daily driver car (which I usually oppose to very much). It will likely be an X5 with the twin-turbo N63 V8.
What sucks is that I was gunning for an F-Pace but they've phased out the 340HP '35t' model, which means only the 380HP V6 S is available - and honestly, I cannot feel the difference between the two, and the numbers have proven that their barely is one. Also, the S leases really poorly...and I don't want a 4-banger Jag.
I still need to test drive the XC60 T6, but at 313HP...it sounds a bit underpowered. Although a relative just purchased one and said it's actually pretty good. The T8 model is awesome, but leases extremely poorly, as well. So I thought I'd take a look at a low mileage F15 X5 and thank God for depreciation on luxury cars with V8s. An $80K car can be had for like $55K 2 years used.
Still, we'll see. CarMax quoted me only $3500 on a bumper-to-bumper 4 year warranty on an XJ 5.0 Supercharged. Which is awesome.

Can't wait to try out the new 3series. The new interior looks bonkers.
I don't like Mercedes interiors, the middle console is too plasticky and is a fingerprints and scratches magnet.
Great that Audi realised that we don't need a third touchscreen for the AC controls and went back to buttons. The designer that thought that up should be fired.

Yeah it's sort of interesting to go to a different city or different locale and see the differences in car culture and what's being driven. Up here in Northwest Georgia it is truck and SUV heavy and leans heavily towards the domestic and Japanese brands although the cheaper Korean cars are starting to be more common. My car is an absolute unicorn in this neck of the woods and I have only ever seen one other Audi RS product (an R8 Spyder) ever up here. It's a bit of a bummer for someone who geeks out over cool cars although I did see a Jaguar E-Type parked across the street from my favorite coffee shop the other morning. I had to stop and do a double take to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing!
I flashed the R today! First results are really positive, but the ECU needs 4 cycles to adapt (which will be confirmed when the check engine light turns off).

600 hp is so much fun. You're gonna go through fuel like crazy LOL. 😈
Yeah, the powerband feels like it's moved down 1000 RPM across the board. The CEL is now gone and the tune is in its full effect.
What sucks is that I haven't had a chance to really open the car up in the cooler temps - it's been 100 all day. But it got up to 100MPH a lot easier and it's trying to break traction going into 3rd. So that's a hoot.
Only thing I'm bummed about is that the older Denso ECUs in these Jags are fully locked and encrypted and don't allow for a host of modifications to extract more power, as well as they don't allow pops/bangs like the F-Type. It can be done on a 2014-2015 XFR which have the ZF 8 speed and correlate to switching to Bosch ECUs (like the F-Types), but XKs stayed Denso all the way through the end of production.
The Z is getting a pop and bang tune, though. Fortunately it's really easy to achieve on it.

Oh yeah forgot. Went to Wekfest Seattle. Gonna post some pics. This is just 3 out of hundreds of cars
The C_Two, which costs $2.1 million and will be limited to 150 units, sold out three weeks after its Geneva launch. Buyers who managed to make the list will get a coupe using a 120-kWh to power four electric motors worthy of 1,888 horsepower and 1,696 pound-feet of torque. Getting from zero to 60 miles per hour takes 1.85 seconds, practically teleportation, while 100 mph comes in 4.3 seconds on the way to a top speed of 258 miles per hour.wtf

By jongkookie Go To PostPhotoshoot at a flat desert?Shades of Richard Hammond? My strongest memory of Rimac is Richard Hammond crashing the Concept One during Season Two of the Grand Tour during a hill climb and it burned for like 5 days or something because of the batteries. That being said, I was just reading that Porsche bought a 10% stake in Rimac so that they could take part in some tech sharing because evidently they are impressed with what Rimac has been able to accomplish with their electric concept cars.
It's like they already know it's going to catch on fire again lol.
Looks pretty good. I don’t particularly like the direction BMW is going in, though. Their interiors (and exteriors) are becoming too streamlined.

I like it but I think I will like the Supra better (which was co-developed with this car, right?). I am mighty excited about Toyota's renewed commitment to sports cars.
Wow, BMW's long time white and red heritage clusters are finally gone? Holy shit.
Also, I'm surprised this is not a hard top. Past one was. But I quite like the car, though. That interior will also be the reason why the Supra will cost like $45K base. Watch

Maybe they will do an actual Z4M that is a hardtop. The clown shoe M car needs a spiritual successor.
Oddly enough, BMW just said there will be no M-car. I think Toyota and BMW can't compete against each other, much like the GT86 deal is structured.
Also, no more slats in the kidney grille. What a time.

Seriously?
It's bland as fuck. Looks like a base model Benz from the back. Pulled up behind one, took a pic...posted it on my IG and still can't believe how generic it looks. Saw a brand new M5 a few hours later, and instantly saw how much better looking the new 5-series is.

The e class is the sore spot in mercs line up for me, but that's just cus the c class looks sooooo beautiful.
Have we discussed what an absolute abomination of a design their new steering wheel is? I mean, goddamn. Tacky as fuck.

The standard e looks super bland I agree. I like the bit the amg model adds though. And it's certainly fast af for a sedan of its size. Haven't seen the new M5 in person yet though.

Looked at that one too. The color combo on the c63 s was more what I like. It was about 30k cheaper too lol. On the inside you can tell it's using some cheaper components compared to E, but I thought there was plenty of room. I'd probably go with it just because it's a whole car cheaper than the e and still looked to have a decent amount of space.
The new c63 amg should be hitting dealerships early next year. I've heard January / February and the 2019's have some nice new standard features versus the 2018 and earlier models. If you are shopping for a new one then definitely wait for the 2019 models.

Is this a refresh model or just the normal new year release ?

That's not the rear end of a car that's worth 100K. It looks basic.
Isn't that that kind of the point though? Just enough difference to be separated from the normal model, but not that far out there gone that the target audience would be ashamed to drive it around? I thought with these high powered luxury sedans part of the appeal is being able to destroy 98% of cars on the road at a moment's notice, while still rolling around in a luxury, full size sedan.
And tbh that's about as boring of a color combo as you can get.
By Lunatic Go To PostThose photos look much better than the press shots. They really do. Curious to see it in person, I reckon it looks better there, too.
Z4 looks really good, imo.
Smokey, I mean...yes. But not to the point of sheer boredom. Look at the M5s, every generation. When you look at the rear, you always know that's a car that means business. Even the C63 and S63s look terrific from the rear. The E-class suffers from being a really boring looking car. My dad has a new 2018 E-Class now, and while the interior is absolutely terrific (seriously, leagues ahead of others), the drive and looks are uninspired.
The E63 is a bonkers machine that is capable of slaying legit supercars. But, you know when you own a really awesome car...and you park it...you always like to look back at it and appreciate what you have? Yeah, the E-Class doesn't have that feeling. I look back at my XKR, Z, and even the XF sometimes...but the E-Class's looks just got nothing out of me. :|

imo BMW/Audi designs are very blending together I sometimes can't tell what car is from what series.
By KRaZyAmmo Go To Postimo BMW/Audi designs are very blending together I sometimes can't tell what car is from what series.
I think that Benz is the worst at that right now with C, E, and S class. The rear ends on all 3 are extremely similar (E and C being the absolute closest). With Merc front ends, the easiest way to tell apart the 3 cars (especially at night) are the DRLs. C-Class has 1 DRL LED strip, E-Class has 2, and S-Class has 3. I found that pretty funny.
Audi and BMW started to differentiate their cars (especially rear) quite a bit with the new core line of sedans: A4, A6, and A8. The 3-series and 5-series shared an ever so slight resemblance with the F-gen cars, but the 7-series always stood out and apart for itself. The new 5-series and 7-series don't have much resemblance in the back, but fairly similar up front. Still, it looks like the sausage effect (same car, longer body) has started to fade away slowly.
Jaguar has a little bit of that with the XF and XE if you look at both from a distance (although the rear ends are pretty different), but once you get to the XJ it's clear that it is the top of the class car.
