Think they could have made something good if they'd built it from the ground up. Having a little group of raiders in the Fallout universe doing proper quests sounds alright to me. As it is, the game is ugly beyond belief, buggy as fuck, the quests seem terrible, no interesting NPCs acually in the world, focus on building which nobody wants to do. Speaking of the building, that only makes the game look worse as you're crowbarring horrible assets into the terrain.
Nothing looks bespoke, it's like it's all been randomly generated within very loose guidelines. I'm sure there are people who work unbelievably hard at Bethesda, but a good studio isn't capable of putting out a product like Fallout 76. That baseline of quality is a joke, and it's stunning that a studio with that much money flowing through it managed to make the constant flow of bad decisions necessary to reach it. Bad concept bolted onto a bad engine (fuck off Jason you pedantic knobend) without the time and effort needed to make it anything more.

man DQ being on sale is sad. I want to support jRPGs/good games even though I can't play them or enjoy them, but 40€ is too steep. I didn't even play P5 more than 40 mins.

So much of it looks just re-used/re-purposed assets. I refuse to believe it cost much to make. I think it's been specifically put out on the cheap to fund Starfield and TES6.
By alt sy Go To PostWhat's this crazy talk about testing Bathesda games?
youd think this is something that would have been specifically tested.
By diehard Go To PostSmokey you have a 2080ti just get an oculus damn
true. 199 is impulse territory though, and i've been interested in it.
By DY_nasty Go To Postis there a fallout VR game?Yes, PC exclusive.
By DY_nasty Go To Postis there a fallout VR game?Fallout 4 VR, it was really broken in most aspects and it still probably more playable than 76.
damn that sucks
im still getting vr for AC7, but its kinda disheartening to believe that outside of that there's like.... skyrim and resident evil 7(nope)

By Hitch Go To PostThink they could have made something good if they'd built it from the ground up.Doubt it.
Think about how they try to force in all the Fallout mainstays into 76. Somehow the Brotherhood exists because of satellites, super mutants for god knows what.
Nukes to make end game content sounds great in theory, but the players are supposed to be the reclaimers, instead they are dropping nukes to add more radiation to the area.
It just doesn't fly with me. They have all the freedom with a new area and timeline, but this is what they came up with.

So
Not kidding. Spyro on PS4 is probably going to outsell FO 76 on PS4 in units unless 76 has some sort of crazy digital share.

Basically, Bethesda don't really understand what makes Fallout what it is. They just see the standout iconography of the Brotherhood, Super Mutants and Vaults and cram it into all of their Fallout games because that's what they think it's all about.

Even Obsidian tried with New Vegas. The Caesar's Legion was a fun addition.

By Flutter Go To PostFrom benji@eraI don't think this is that shocking. FO 76's reception has been terrible since it was announced and has gotten exponentially worse.
Fallout 76 never made any sense as a concept. Make a game that almost entirely revolves around the janky ass elements of the previous games with none of the positives from said games. What could go wrong?
Remember when FO4 came out and p/reviewers said they'd fixed the combat and the shooting felt good? Maybe Bethesda believed those liars.
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostI still would have guessed Fallout would sell well tbh, just from the name and marketing.
Me too, but I also wouldn't have guessed that they'd reuse Alduin as the final boss of 76.
By Hitch Go To PostRemember when FO4 came out and p/reviewers said they'd fixed the combat and the shooting felt good? Maybe Bethesda believed those liars.I admit I was suckered. To this day I haven't played more than 10 hours of Fallout 4.
They may well have hit a critical mass of negativity. At some point just being part of a popular franchise doesn't cut it. Same thing kinda happened to the Xbox One.
By Hitch Go To PostRemember when FO4 came out and p/reviewers said they'd fixed the combat and the shooting felt good? Maybe Bethesda believed those liars.
To be fair, the shooting was far better than it was in Fallout 3. However it was massively let down by every enemy being a bullet sponge just like they were in Fallout 3. It also wasn't half as good as other open world shooters, like the Far Cry games.
Celeste is an incredible platformer but yeah I'd say most of era just likes it because of it has a female protagonist and the frankly Oscar bait-y story. Still deserves the Goty nominations.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostWhats the word on the new fallout gameShit, crap, horrible, unplayable, buggy, trash.
Pick one.
By Hitch Go To PostDoes Let's Go have multiple save files?
If not, can I have one save per Switch account?
It's one per account.
Welp, I did just find out there doesn't seem to be much of an autosave function....
Moments like that really do kick the wind out of your sails on a game.
By DY_nasty Go To Posti can't even believe 76 cost that much to make…. feels like bethesda's andromeda tbh
