Lovely. Amazing what competition will do.
Time to step up my PUBG leaning game.

As I'm thinking more about potential builds, going SLI is an option. Yeah it's hit or miss, but if this gen is anything to go by, I will make my money back on one card and then some.
You just know the cycle is gonna repeat again, with faster cards and miners.

SLI has too much frustration for me to deal with.
That's why I opted to pay a billion dollars for the cheapest Optane 905p and will use that FuzeDrive solution I posted earlier to speed up my system. Surely, this can't go wrong!

I'm coming at it from a resale position, and not really from a practical usage situation. If the same uptick in pricing and shortafe of cards happens again (I think it will), I'm essentially messing around with other for "free" as I know I'll get my money back, and then some.
DX12's mGPU was the last chance we had for multiple video cards to really be viable and it .. it's failing. It's sad because MCM designs for GPU's could be an excellent solution.
By Smokey Go To PostDX12 hasn't really taken off in general, has it?Nope. It's a fairly large change from 8-11, so developers haven't really started using it. Plus it just isn't worth the extra development time for most games.
My GPU was finally returned to me after RMA today. It appears to work. Reinstalling Windows on the complete rebuild right now, even though I will need to do it again Friday when my new SSD comes in. Might as well figure out if there are any issues now before I waste my weekend encountering them.
By Smokey Go To PostAny OC on the CPU?None, yet. I'm not going to bother with it any more until Friday since I'm going to have to redo all that work, anyway. Remind me to try that this weekend.

somewhat intrigued for a god tier lean game in siege but eh...
Anything I should know about AIOs btw? Gonna be my first time using one, always stuck with air cooling in the past.
I’ve got a specific AIO header on my motherboard, so I know I need to plug it into that.

Nothing special about the install portion from a regular air cooler, really. Just need to make sure the pump is plugged into the mobo, which may be what that spot on your mobo is referring to.

pretty set on getting an 1180ti whenever that comes out (I'm in no rush), but I'm still running a 4790k, is that going to be a problem? that 9900k sounds cool but I'd need a whole new build for that xd

Ta, thought I'd have to do something fancier with it than just mount it to the CPU. Hopefully gonna get it set up tomorrow before I go work.
Downside is i've gotta pretty much fully dissemble my PC to fit it in there.
It will require a non-stock bracket, which only larger air coolers do, so unless you have access to the rear of the mobo with that case you need to disassemble it anyway.

The radiator mount is under the PSU and partially under the GPU too, so need to remove them first too. Plus re-route all the cables.
Oh yeah, need to take my RAM out to remove the tips of the heatspreaders.
The plastic divider, one or two side panel clips, and the front USB header/cable.
Small case, big job.
RGB certified!
Didn’t have a hex screwdriver to take the tops off my set of Dark Pro RAM, had to swap it out for the low profile Vulcan kit.
Gonna sort that in the future.
Gonna go for a clean windows install too, leaving that till tonight.

This will get you probably most of the bits you need for PC stuff: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Essential-Electronics-Toolkit/IF145-348-2
They have other kits with even more bits and other tools.
e: i picked this up from them a couple years ago at quakecons and the only quibble I have is that the toolbag/case thing barely reaches long enough to close securely via the velcro strip: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Pro-Tech-Toolkit/IF145-307

Searched them on Amazon soon as I realised I couldn’t use a regular screwdriver ha.
Think I might be able to borrow one first before spending £30 on a set.
Also need some screws to mount the slim fan to the rad, it’s wedged in there currently
My motherboard is doing a new green light for a second or two once it shuts down then turns on again
Removed ethernet cable in case it was internet related but still same issue
YouTube suggestions haven't fixed it either

does your motherboard have anything on it that displays bios codes? you need to download your mobo guide and look up what those lights are referring to or anything else that can give clues if anything is going on in your board.
have you tried a hard shutdown (turning power supply switch off and on after some time), then trying the shutdown as normal and see if that helps?

I haven't tried that but i will try that hard shut down now and report back
I just realized, I think this is new mobo is my first UEFI capable one. Should make boot times even faster!
By FootbalIFan Go To PostSmokey you fucking genius
It is fixed
Good stuff. Sounded like it was caught in some kind of boot loop. Flipping the PSU switch or unplugging it drains the power from the power supply after a certain amount of time. FYI if you have any future power issues.
Can’t get the side panel back on, but it’s otherwise complete now. Slim Noctua for the overall airflow over the M.2 and VRMs. Probably overkill, but I’m sticking with it.
i was really struggling with what phone to get, after i killed my s7 edge

Dear Customer,Logitech came through. Not that they had any other choice. From how this is worded it looks like they're not bothering to recall my current G613 at all? If so, I'll fuck around with the Caps Lock key switch, see if I can fix it on my own, which would leave me with two perfectly functioning G613s.
