Nice interviews by David, don't mind them taking some time after the race before the rest of the celebrations!

The worst Italian-German partnership.
So happy right now.
I really like the fact that Charles at 21 has the balls to be pissed off and expecting to win.
For the team it was the right call as it guaranteed 1-2.
Ferrari really getting everything right at the moment.
Hamilton lucky to get 4th. Would have been 6th without team orders.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostDecent interview from Charles, really held it well together and toed the part line.He had to ;) , but like I said just make sure after the race in private, that you will not accept it the next time, same that Seb did after Q in Monza
Binotto said to Leclerc to "go on the podium and enjoy it, we'll discuss after", Leclerc responded with a whispered "mah", Binotto then replied with "Full stop."

hahaha, exact same again.
By Spengo Go To PostToto didn't look amused this weekend. I can see him dropping Bottas, eventually.Bottas whom drove 3 seconds a lap slower to avoid even Albon undercutting Lewis and avoiding the embaressing "here is James Lewis, sry we ...." radio call.
Isn't being a goodboy exactly what Toto wants from his nr2 driver?
Driver standings, Lewis needs another 60 points, if Leclerc wins them all........so when, Mexico again?
By markao Go To PostIsn't being a goodboy exactly what Toto wants from his nr2 driver? He’s going to get out his pen and paper for Verstappen at some point.
I don’t trust Ferrari for a nanosecond with the sudden gains they’ve made on Mercedes and Red Bull.
Already spoiled by Daddy Max on Dutch television few weeks back and now confirmed; final and 5th new parts for Honda to be ready with a shiny new engine for their home race in Suzuka. (5-place grid penalty)
As mentioned, new race weekend and this time in the former winter Olympic glory of Sochi. One of the GPs added to the calendar that I would not miss if gone, some rumours about moving it to St Peterburg are floating and with-out having seen that track, it got my vote.
Track should be not to bad for Ferrari, long straights and not to many corners following other corners (most 90 degrees L/R).So Ferrari pole and Mercedes better race pace, RBR race pace better than Singapore (Russia front limited), but 5 place penalties for them, so could be fun race.
Weather might play role, cold (getting tires up to temp like Singapore restarts) and wet, specially Saturday (poor Ferrari), so could be Hockenheim all over again.
Renault bit better than Singapore, so they should be fighting Mclaren for best of the rest.

Not much happening other than a bird on track and few spins in the end. Mercedes only one from top 3 on mediums and track still looks dull.

FP2
Single lap, Max little faster than Charles, mainly S3 (feel like tires fall off more for Ferrari), Mercedes loose all their time in S1 (tire heating issue?). Long run harder to judge, different order of using the tires, but Max looked little quicker than Charles on mediums, reverse on the reds, but not a lot between them. Merc ran less and later, Bottas started slower, but than gained a lot and Lewis different tire.
Midfield looked both on single lap and long-runs pretty even (lot of traffic), so hard to call that right now.
Albon after issue on slow lap, Lewis on long run and was close:
few slides, Charles:
Kvyatt tires of end S3:

Just tuned in when they seemed to be at the end of talking about that.
Was 90% what they said meant McLaren was back with Mercedes. A winning partnership returns.

Lewis making it sound like they are fucked and Ferrari is just that much better.
Someone on the Sky broadcast said that with the info they had yesterday(based on the flying laps) that Mercedes were comfortably ahead of everyone despite being slower.

Max looked to be damaging the floor on curb 1st corner, so RBR will be fine come Q, ignoring the 5 places penalty, he needs to get ahead of the Mercs to limit damage. Merc will be little closer, but to far behind Leclerc to make up with their qualifying party-mode, of course if all stays dry.
Midfield mega close, so drivers can make the difference, as it should be.

bye bye Albon off hard, all weekend of pace.
Means Seb needs to make choice, reds or another go with other set of mediums?

Yep reds for Seb, that Albon shunt did in the end cost hm one extra set.
Kimi error last corner cost him Q2

Mercedes q2 on the Mediums
Midfield so close 6 guys within a tenth in the 1st run. Gasly, Perez and Kevin do not improve in run 2 and go out, together with Lance and Gio.
Charles playing Tony hawk with the curb:

/4 in a row and 4 tenths ahead of Lewis (but slower than last year) who just tips Vettel. Max from p9 and the Mercs on mediums should be fun race.
So close between Carlos, Hulk en Lando, midfield race should also be fun

Crazy that four in a row for Ferrari was Schu back in I think 2000/2001.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostCrazy that four in a row for Ferrari was Schu back in I think 2000/2001.Shame that the team just did not start this well, could have been an epic year. (Ferrari Q pace, Merc tire wear and race pace)
Ferrari needs Seb as a buffer, with mercs on mediums. It should be possible with good start (softer tire) and long un to first braking zone.

GONYCK F2 Champion
He always been quick and has good race craft shame his in ability to look after his tires cost him a shot at F1, but Merc FE isn't that bad of a seat.
Would rate him on a similiar level to Albon, Charles was always the stand-out in that age category.

But most major car manufacturers are now involved and it is getting better (cars faster) and pay for the drivers is good as well. Need a few more years/updates, but they are slowly getting there.
Commentary says that they are ok.
They just showed the incident and it is lucky that they are ok.
Was because of the cars carrying too much sped in the first run off area and then coming back onto the track.

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostCommentary says that they are ok.They changed that bollard run-off aera and now drivers can go through there faster and drivers will therefore take more risk to not loose/win position and come back on track quicker, not sure what Mazepin, other than "I do not want to loose out', was doing/thinking.

Clean start in F1 please, because I would like to see Lewis taking it to the Ferrari's on a track were overtaking is at least somewhat possible

Would love for Vettel to get ahead of Lewis. Just control the race ahead.
Just no big mess at turn 2.

Best to take advamtage of softer tires at the start for Vettel and use power to get ahead of Lewis.

Even if it's tow-assisted, it's a legitimate overtake. Feels odd to make it a team orders situation.
Paul Di Resta is right, Seb just flew off the start. Was ahead of Lewis quickly.
Seb doing a great job.

Vettel only overtook Leclerc because HE allowed
He couldve broken Vettels tow instantly after start but he didnt
he didnt even try to stay on the inside to defend
this was clearly a team tactics
Vettel has to give the place back imo

This is great to see. Didn't see the Ferrari's pulling away in the previous wins, but now Seb just dominating.

Maybe ok idea before the start, but it turns in to old fashioned Ferrar stupidity played out in front of the world.
Max vs
Charles not happy:

Leclerc couldve easily defended the position on the inside tho
or as I said broken the tow immediately after the start giving it to Hamilton instead
Well, this is going to be a big drama. Love it.
