I am more of a fan of Korean cinema so I would appreciate some recommendations of Japanese movies.
By blackace Go To PostShopliftersThank you for reminding me about that. It was high on my list last year but I forgot about it.
With the hurricane hitting us tomorrow night, I am going to be closed up at home for a few days so I'll definitely watch that.
Holy shit, The Shining on 4K UHD looks absolutely stunning. I'm seeing details I've never seen before (and I rewatched the film on Blu about a month ago).
Wow Gareth Edwards isn't a good director or anything but whoever replaced him for King of Monsters certainly is far worse. This movie is immediately worse right off the bat than the first movie.
Oh my god this movie is boooooty
Amazing Maguffin iPod Touch with a Siri interface that awakens and puts the titans to sleep

The marketing / PR build up for this movie has been cooked to perfection in your local dumpster fire.

He's completely wrong.
By RrusheR Go To PostHe's completely wrong.People wonder why comedies suck today
Even Ace Ventura would get someone #cancelled today.
He's right, there's literally not been any comedy released for years. No one has laughed since 2016.
By Laboured Go To PostHe's right, there's literally not been any comedy released for years. No one has laughed since 2016.For the older crowd, you look at stand up or sketch comedy then see people wrung dry for the same stuff. It does get tiring. Don't blame him for saying fuck it.
Looking back at In Living Color, man... You think the reception for that show would be the same now as it was then? I completely get it. Let Amy Schumer and Kevin Hart do their thing. It's different now.
By DY_nasty Go To PostPeople wonder why comedies suck todayTrue, allthough Dolomite is my name looks a lock for best comedy of the year. After joker.

By Laboured Go To PostIt's not that hard. Don't punch downwards.Good comics talk joke on everyone and find a way to make people laugh at themselves. Not everyone is good at it, but risk didn't include a huge blow to your career like it does now. It's hard for people to even grow and get better.
Now, the top export is self depreciating humor that's safe before anything else. It's a handicap and it kinda sucks. Some like it but it's remarkably boring to me. The few big name comedians still around are lucky to have recognition and notoriety that gives them more cushion than most but it's still not the same.
Son, please.
Anthony Jeselnik has a special on Netflix where the preview joke is about Alzheimer and the joy of a dead wife.

True, I do think he's the only one who does dark humour that well though, it's a fine line to thread.
you can't do comedy anymore these days, listen why in my new netflix special called "triggered - things you just can't say anymore as a comedian".

Todd Phillips isnβt funny, so is blaming other people for that fact.
Phillips told MTV "I think there are very few sequels that have been made that live up to or exceed their first film. 'The Godfather' is the first one. We had always planned on calling it 'The Hangover 2,' and when we finished the script, I changed the cover page and wrote 'The Hangover Part II,' because I think the film lives up to or exceeds the first one. It was very much a nod to 'The Godfather.' "
Now that's funny.
Still not sure if I am going to do the whole 31 days but I watched an horror movie yesterday.
I am sucker for found footage movies but somehow I hadn't check Hell House LLC before.
The movie has an interesting structure. It starts as a documentary investigating an incident on a haunted house attraction that never was explained by authorities.
They start by talking with journalists and survivors about it and they even show a video of the chaos that occurred but the video doesn't show exactly what happened.
They are given recordings of the days before by one of staff members that was managing the attraction.
They do a really good job setting up the atmosphere and there are some solid jump scares but unfortunately the movie has some issues with ending, probably due to a lack of budget that doesn't allow them to go as far as they probably wanted.
Still, I really liked as the ride up until the end was quite creepy.
There are 2 sequels which apparently aren't as good but I am interested in both as there is quite a bit more to explore about the mythology of the hotel.

Doesn't help when the guy arguing it is known for the Hangover movies.
Yeah finally someone had the balls to take on that sacred cow that is Hitler.
That "don't punch down" shit is stupid af. Comedy and jokes aren't "punching", it's fucking jokes and I know I'm not the only who's bored of all the hang wringing and pearl clutching over jokes.
That Godfather quote is pretty rich though, cmon
It's Always Sunny would've been cancelled halfway into season 2 had it debuted in 2018 rather than 2005.
It's Always Sunny gets away with it because they are terrible people and they aren't even hinting any differently.

What episode is that or season if you know?
Going to go see "Lost Boys" either Friday or Saturday at one of these independent movie theaters in San Francisco. I've seen it at home and enjoyed it. Hope it's even better on the big screen.

I don't want to get into comedic elitism because ultimately I laugh at dumb shit all of the time. That being said, if you're pumping out the same kind of obnoxious over the top crude harping on old stereotypes humor over and over, people might get tired of your fucking schtick, boo hoo.
From a purely statistical standpoint, comedies are doing terribly at the box office the last 3 years.
The highest grossing comedy this year was a remake, and not even a pure comedy.
