Put an offer in for the 3080 EK FE waterblock on eBay and it got accepted straight away. £129 is kind of a bargain considering they’re £250 new.

Oof, looks like the Asus Maxiumus z690 Hero drama is still going on. I'm glad I skipped this generation. Reading reviews for the board on sites like Newegg, looks like Asus is telling customers to just buy a different model than the Hero now.

It’s gonna be a while before I put it on. Wanna upgrade to 280mm rads but I need to check my case measurements so I know they’ll fit. I’ll need 140mm fans too, probably gonna go with Arctic P140s.
Also need to get the dremel out so I can fit the vertical GPU bracket I got back in June.
By Celcius Go To PostAre you guys planning to upgrade to the RTX 40 series? From my 1070? Yeah, absolutely. Might even go AMD, depending on how things shake out. Though that would require me to also get a new Freesync capable monitor.
e: I'll probably stick with AMD for the CPU side for a while, though. I like the peace of mind of having ECC RAM. Perfectly fine with giving up a handful of FPS that I won't notice for it.

I'm not, but I also said I wasn't interested in the 30 series early on. Yet here I am, replaying old games with a 3080Ti.
For the first time ever, I am actually considering the power draw of my PC components. We have two gaming computers in our office which has two windows that face the sun. Even with them closed and covered and with AC and room fans running, it can get near sweltering in here if we have both machines going full blast during the summer. If I can get same-tier performance for significantly lower power draw by switching vendors, that is what I will do.

As you know, I'm a fan of undervolting. Using it with a hard power limit, DLSS (or FSR I suppose), and a reasonable frame rate cap for certain games drastically cuts power draw down. I'm sure I've mentioned before that I have profile set up for playing Siege that cuts my GPU power draw from the stock 350w, down to 160-180w. While maintaining a completely solid 120FPS at 4K (DLSS Quality, so actually 1440p).
It's something to look into as you're quite like myself in that you tend to play a few games in rotation. Quake, MH, etc. You can definitely tune a profile towards those games with sensible frame rate caps for each.
Aye, that's something I have looked into doing. Locking things somewhere between 90-120 fps works fine for me. Had that enabled before. Not sure why I increased it to 159. lol
By Celcius Go To PostAre you guys planning to upgrade to the RTX 40 series?I feel like I've barely taken advantage of my 3080, so idk.
Depends on performance, prices, availability, case compatibility, how much I could get for my current GPU, disposable income at the time ...
Def not sweating it like I did to get the 3080 at mrsp, fuck that shit.
Got my EK FE block today. Fuck me it’s heavy. Feels like at least twice the weight of a standard waterblock.

Dream monitor ... if it wasn't for the resolution. At 45" it should be at least 3840x1600. Also, no VESA mount.
But honestly the most important thing is that we'll have new OLED ultrawides coming. Bless.

LG have announced there own version of a 45’, 240hz OLED. Don’t think it’s bendable though, only a 800R curve was listed.
In more important news, I have today graduated to using a wireless controller with my PC after installing Bluetooth drivers and syncing one of my Dualsense controllers to it.
I’ll no longer accept being tethered to my computer via USB while playing MGS.

Controllers need to get on board with Logitech’s wireless charging tech and battery life. I wanna dock my pads like I dock my mice.
Plugging them in what feels like every four hours or replacing AAs, it’s no way to live.

The battery packs for the Xbox controllers have been shit in my experience. Tried the official, tried the knock offs. Keeping a couple sets of standard rechargeables and swapping them out works but that’s too much effort.
I wanna know what the fuck Valve were doing with the Steam controller to give it such an absurdly good battery life with standard AAs.

the plug n plays have been trash, yeah, agreed.
but get you some eneloops instead, and you're gooooood
I think I need to commission Zabo to fit a Logitech powerplay module in one of my pads so I can just dock it like I do my mice to charge it.
Wonder how big of a lithium battery would fit in a SX or Dualsense controller

Not as fancy as powerplay, but that wouldn't be any more practical for charging a controller.
Hello m8s
So sometimes, I'd say maybe 1 out of 4 times. I turn on my computer and there's no sound. Whether from the speakers, connected wired headset, connecting Bluetooth headset etc. There's just no sound coming out of anything
The other 3 out of 4 times I turn on my PC, the sound works perfectly as it should
??
Restarting the PC fixes it 3 out 4 times.
Disconnecting reconnecting speakers doesn't make a difference
Changing the audio output device on the PC doesn't change anything
There's just no sound once the computer decides there's no sound

Convenience.
Those other docks all require either inserting the USB-C into the controller or using the the connection at the bottom of the pad. All require additional space on my desk too.
Compatibility is pretty shitty with my rear paddles also as many of them don’t allow my pads to fit on them.
If I could wire something up to just sit on my magnetic powerplay dock to charge though, wew. Future tech in my mind.
I see. That does sound like something I'd attempt, if I used my roller considerably more than I do. Don't really mind plugging it in every once in a while.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostHello m8sHmm, could be a number of things, but it definitely sounds (hue) like a hardware issue.

I assume you're using the onboard audio? Maybe a component of the audio chipset is in bad shape and it sometimes doesn't get initialized when starting up the PC.
When there's no sound, are all your audio devices still present in Windows under playback / recording devices?

You assume correctly on the onboard audio.
And yeah all the audio devices still show up and are there.
I think I need a new PC
I've had similar problems and still not sure if it was driver, firmware, hardware, or os related. Only "solved" it by no longer using that audio device and just using a different one.

Funnily enough I’ve had a kinda similar issue playing MGSV on PC. Sometimes I start the game up and there’s no sound, but most of the time it works correctly. I have zero clue as to why it does this, but I have to close the game and toggle between two audio outputs before booting the game up again to get the sound working.
It only effects that single game and nothing else though.
My only suggestion would be to troubleshoot the issue, try using a cheap DAC to see if it still happens with an alternative audio output.
FYI, you can try hooking up one of your console controllers, switching Windows to use them as your audio device, and plugging in some headphones to the controller. Should save you some time and money from trying to get a separate DAC.
model d- is super light wtf
like maybe uncomfortably light lol
also didn't know the - model was a bit smaller than the standard d (pause). might need an exchange for that one.
