By n8 dogg Go To PostSeen it before once or twice but not for years. Just the oddest big budget blockbuster I can think of.What did you think with fresh eyes?
By LFMartins86 Go To PostI had forgotten about the scene where we see a woman have an orgasm after eating cake through code. How could you?
One of the goat scenes.
Followed by Monica bursting out of her latex dress.

Watched up to the end of Burly Brawl. Wachowskis some of the best action filmmakers out there but the film is sagging under the weight of its own convoluted mythology.
By rodeoclown Go To PostI don't think Predators is that bad. The one that came after was pretty awful, though.Oh right, I meant the last one.
That was The Predator, with the kid with downs that meant the next step in evolution or something.
A prequel could be good. Just keep it simple.
Lol journalists asking these totally unrelated directors about Marvel films are working in such bad faith. It’s all to get a quick, easy to digest headline to rile up the masses. Like this dude has a new, major film coming out and you’re asking him questions about Marvel shit? Ffs
By Wahabipapagooz Go To PostDune was very nice. Only negative was not enough zendaya. But that sequel will fix that. Inshallah
By Xpike Go To Postwhat about the distrosIn a month. That's why the US release is much later than the European release, to avoid piracy.
The internet experts will soon figure out that he only makes movies where people shoot things, like they figured out that Scorsese only made gangster movies. It's over for Denis.
Very, very offended that you would tell me to read a book in the Film thread. This is supposed to be a safe space from that sort of thing.
res*et having a good one over the Denis stuff. Very rational people over there. Most def not full of people that have made their hobbies their personalities

By Daz Go To PostRent free.
It's not rent free if he was asked a question during an interview.

Reloaded is so fucking weird, man. I appreciate the gumption to take money from a studio and make that movie - where the first 45 minutes is disjointed, methodically paced conversations in dark rooms, where much of the time is spent disappearing up its own arse with an ever-growing convoluted mythology that is endlessly contradictory, where all of the villainous or antagonistic characters are white (extremely so in the Twins’ case), Anglicised males and Zion (a loaded name in itself) is full of Black and brown bodies dancing, where a minor character called the Merovingian makes a woman orgasm through eating cake and the camera zooms in on the source code of her vagina, where the denouement is a ten minute conversation with an old man who says ergo twice and reveals that everything is fucked and there is no hope.
Wild trip. Kinda like it more than I used to for sheer audacity. It’s flawed as fuck, but ambitious and daring and ballsy, and has two or three genuinely superb action set-pieces.

Malignant was dumb. It gets no credit for being deliberately dumb. Gord knows what the normie patrons in the screen thought (all 4 of them). I award it 2.5 Yens out of 5.
I watched half of the Matrix 1 earlier, and it reminded me of Raimi's Spiderman in that it had a distinct visual style when you compare it to all the identikit blockbusters today (Dee-Knee would agree with me)

Reloaded is a good time.
My rewatch was under the lense of the philosophy of Jean Paul Satre who was one of many philosophical influences for the watchowskis along with Baudrillard.
The architect's speech in the end is mocked for its overly long and verbose nature. Buts packed with revelations and existentialism, determinism and choice.
Revolutions has its moments as well.
Also, that highway set peice, still not been topped.
Audacious and ballsy is correct.

By s y Go To PostWatching gattaca. It's interesting and the music is nice. And its run time is under two hours so you might actually finish it.

Edit: He was also the cinematographer for One by Metallica

Thoughts on Old
The ending relied solely on the fact that M. Night's character thinks that if someone is underwater for a minute then they must have drowned. I know he was adapting from a book but it was stupid. If they had set him up as some sort of careless character then maybe but we know nothing about him. It wasn't the only flaw in the ending/reveal. Was he really the only one monitoring them? They had a lab full of scientists and they are relying on one bloke to be able to accurately identify symptoms with a telescope. The premise doesn't work either. The elliptic woman didn't get any seizures for "16 years". Great. How do you not know that the medicine didn't give her adverse side effects which M. Night's character couldn't pick up from miles away? There is a reason that when there are clinical trials for a drug, the patients are heavily monitored, given surveys outlining all their symptoms, given constant physical tests. Also, was he supposed to diagnose mental symptoms as well? How would you have identified whether the mother's tumour shrunk?
