By Meier Go To PostFrom what was reported, they're hurting financially and St Etienne managed to get a sell-on in the Fofana deal even with the big cost, so only about £20-25m of the fee was available to be spent. Looks like Wout Faes was £15m so I guess they could maybe bring in another cheap player and then hope for the best..But how have they got into financial trouble? They've never spent huge sums and have typically sold big every year.

But…the narrative
Newcastle got no chance at the league if this is the standard of Reffing we have to look forward to all season
The only good thing about the Aubameyang deal, is that it sounds like Alonso is finally off as a result of it.

Lmao
That might be the greatest football related tweet I have ever read.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI don’t know too much about the lad. Doesn’t sound like he is the replacement for either CM player that I would prefer, but seems he can do a job.Its definitely a panic buy but you can say it's an upgrade on Maitland-Niles. So not the worst move to make after a pretty good summer.
By FermentedFungi Go To PostHow would you rate him as a LB? 🤔The best in the last decade, of course.
His legs are done now though, can't see him doing well in the PL. Should have went to Serie A and bossed that league.
By BlindCom Go To Post15 millions Euros reportedly, which is very high for the Jupiler League. Brugge splashing the cash they earned from selling De Ketelaere to AC Milan. They are offering Berge £100k a week too. Maybe Berge enjoys playing in the Belgian league too, he was at Genk for a while before they sold him to Sheffield. That's a lot more than I expected. I suspect they included some sort of sell-on clause as well to try and better recoup their initial cost.
Apparently he was one of those players Liverpool were eyeing this week as an emergency midfield transfer.
By sohois Go To PostBut how have they got into financial trouble? They've never spent huge sums and have typically sold big every year. That's a good question. Their net transfer spend was bad for them last season (almost nothing brought in) and I guess they've told him they need to balance it. Probably some level of continued knock-on from the Covid season(s) and lower revenue. You'd think they'd still be fine though with all the TV money, etc.

They also just bought Onyedika for 10m euros, who has been fairly good in the Danish league, but only performed for one season really. Kind of mad Midtjylland got that kind of money for him

- Borussia Mönchengladbach have brought Julian Weigl back to Germany on loan from Benfica
- Krzysztof Piatek has swapped Hertha Berlin for Salernitana

Had no idea who he was, that's a lot of money for Danish league quality. Yaremchuk makes sense because he was "too good" for the Jupiler league in his last two seasons at Gent before he left for Portugal. Guess he got found out at Benfica and is going back to Belgium to dominate again.
But yeah Brugge got like 35m Euros for soft lad De Ketelaere, think they spent it all and more already. Even bought
By Laboured Go To PostInky is Alvarez good?
Sounds like Alvarez would be the perfect signing for ETH's United but would be a flop everywhere else.
By FermentedFungi Go To PostInky is Alvarez good?Nah, he's a destroyer mostly. Can't pass, can't carry the ball.
He'd be good at Atlético. No idea what Ajax of all clubs saw.
Feels like every 'big' club bar maybe City still haven't filled all the holes in their squad. Lots of last second scrambling going on.
Second bid for Luiz rejected, we should walk away. Even without him only having 1 year left on his contract he isn't worth that much.
Looks like we're done for the window. A lot of youth again and we've left ourselves a bit short in both fullback positions and upfront again. A season that looks like we could hunt for top 6 could turn sour very quickly with a couple of injuries.
PES legend Draxler goes to Benfica
Rose? The return of Don Vito?
