By zfzmikey Go To PostI had to google, because the comparison between the two engines seemed pretty suspect. The S85 (and the S65 offspring) are really unique engines.
LC500 Dyno:
S85 Dyno:
at 3k RPM, the LC500 is ~100tq higher, or ~40% more torque. Those are *very* different engines.
Yeah, it's apples to oranges, I agree. But the M6 was also substantially lighter.
That said, 270-300lb ft of torque during normal acceleration on a 4300lb car is still a bit lackluster, imo. And gotta keep in mind that the 10-speed is going to keep revs as low as possible in normal mode. Car does feel more lively in the sportier settings where it'll run the tach to around 4500RPM casually.
I should add that my experience with this motor is based on the RC-F, btw - which has a similarly programmed, although slower shifting, 8 speed. But same motor.
Let's also not forget, I'm spoiled with the output of my 5-liter too.
Edit: Wait, I'm looking at the dyno chart again...I don't see a 100tq difference at 3K RPM. It's a 40lb difference: 290 vs 250?
Edit 2: It's still an apples to oranges comparison, because we're looking at 2 dyno sheets, from different dynos, in different climates, different days, etc. The variability is simply far too much.
Been putting in a ton of research of Mid sized SUV's.
Man it's frustrating.
Basically want something petrol, with around 350nm of torque.
None of the Asian (particularly JP) come close to it now. Super frustrating because outside that, they'd be our Ideal new car.
But my Ford has 380nm. And i've felt how that went with towing a fully loaded car, less trailer.
Was looking at the Volvo XC-60. But it's now owned, and built, in China. So you're basically being asked to pay 2x the price for a re-branded Ssangyong Musso. Ugh.

Those engines are bulletproof. Despite being a little behind in terms of tech, the interiors are still gorgeous and the infotainment systems are highly usable.

Only Chinese/Pacific market Volvos are made there.
All others are built in Sweden.

QX70 has been discontinued for a bit now. And Infinitis basically don't exist in foreign markets outside of the US (apart from Japan, Russia, and some in China). I always forget where he lives, but an Infiniti may be difficult to find. And Pathfinders and Muranos are also largely American models with nary a presence outside of the US (I've seen some sold in Russia though).

His son recently bought a Nissan, my friend was driving it down for a camping trip. After he got there, he decided to look under the back of the car to find out why the ride was so terrible.

Basically everything was decades old tech and horribly out of date. Which matches up with a lot of sentiment about Nissans' passenger cars in general.

How sure are you? Cause most reports show that to just no be true. And there are 2 more Chinese plants being built.
On top of, being Australia, we get the China version i believe.

I wouldn't buy an infiniti here. There are basically none in circulation and the brand has no foot hold at all.
By zfzmikey Go To PostThey're just Nissans with better interiors.I understand that they're to Nissan roughly what Lexus is to Toyota.
Doesn't change the fact that i'm probably one of 2 people in the country that know that. (obvious exaggeration, but not by much).
By reilo Go To PostThe important thing is that you won't be hurting for parts or service because it is Nissan tech. For the stuff that is Nissan. The problem is, most of Nissans Tech (mainly the mechanical stuff) is pretty outdated / using cheap parts so we'd be doing our selves a disservice buying a Nissan.
Should add, Nissan probably aren't too far from pulling out of Aus. They've basically killed anything from their line that isn't an SUV, just last year. They've been doing really poorly here for a while.
That's weird, because I believe in 2017 they were the number 1 selling car brand in the world. Surprised they aren't more popular down under.
Regarding where an Aussie XC60 is built...you're best bet is to go to a dealer and look at the VIN sticker. But yeah, I'd imagine you have Chinese built Volvos. Though us Americans are getting a South Carolina plant this year, so all US market cars will be built here. Belgium is building all XC40s though. And I think S60 production will be split between 3 plants. And the S90 currently is built 90% in China, and look at the praise it has received.
Not like it matters at this point anyway. All of the robots are calibrated the same. All of the hardware supplied is the same. The only difference are the line workers, and the cheaper labor. Most of the car is built by the robot arms.

Would definitely recommend them. I just don't have them cause i have certain problems with my back.
Other than that the interior contrast stitching is really nice.

By giririsss Go To PostNot really.Yes really. Unless all the reviews in print, TV and review saying the cars are great are really lying cause they are paid by the Chinese government to promote their Ssangyongs.
Volvo has a really distinct form and design language throughout their range so to say it's rebranded anything is really weird.
I guess you could be talking about build quality? Strange way to say it then, but that I have no idea about the Asian Volvos, they are good over here at least.

Not that far away, what's up.
Looked up that paint. Its called Bianco Italia. Originally a $19k option. Apparently there's a LaFerrari out there in that color.
I know Ferrari are supposed to be red, but there's something to be said about being unique.
I love the carbon seats, but they are so hard to find!
I haven't sat in them in person yet, but they look great. That's 1 thing I would compromise on if the rest of the car is good. Carbon driver zone and diamond cut forged wheels are my must have options. Standard or Daytona seats are good enough and probably the right choice since I plan on driving it quite a lot.
If I end up working a deal on this, it would be nice if you could check it out in person and let me know if you notice any paint imperfections or weird smells or wear inside.
I probably won't be able to fly out to see it myself before purchase. Would just have it shipped to me.

There's a guy in the parking garage across from mine at work. Drives a orange McLaren to work. Can hear it coming from a ways away lol.
Anyway I'm walking around yesterday and hear an engine that clearly sounds like a really nice sports car and it's getting closer. See a little bit of everything around here so I play guessing game of what it is. Gets closer and finally stops at stop sign in front of me.
Black on black 488 with new tags on it. Whew what a car . And then it turns into that parking garage. Has to be the McLaren guy. Must've traded it in for the 488. The chances of two different people having an exotic in the same garage are low, especially at work.

So that F-Type R convertible I tested last weekend just had the price dropped to $70k. That is an excellent deal on a 2017 CPO with only 10k miles on it. For my tastes it is just about perfect (dark sapphire exterior with black and tan interior) but a) I'm not ready for the car yet and b) I don't really want an F Type vert. But for someone who is looking it would be a killer deal! http://www.jaguarnorthatlanta.com/certified/Jaguar/2017-Jaguar-F-TYPE-7706682f0a0e0ae929f9e31bca1c90f5.htm

For me it was the other way around. Took me half a year to find a Spider with Daytona seats.
Hmmm like i said please at least try the racing seats beforehand.
Every other 458 driver i know has got the racing seats and they all love them.
I took a few 458 coupes for a testdrive with racing seats. Although harder than the standard/daytona seats they fit a lot better.
The difference is most noticable in the shoulder area.

With exotics, about 99 percent doesn't know what car it is, .5% know will know exactly what it is, .3% will know what brand it is, .2% will just think it's a Corvette.
Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk's refusal to take questions from analysts about the electric car maker's financial condition drew sharp criticism from Wall Street analysts and investors on Thursday, pushing its stock down further.
In a conference call on Wednesday, Musk refused to answer questions from analysts on Tesla's capital requirements, saying "boring questions are not cool."
The company's stock was down $25 a share in morning trading Thursday.
Cowen analyst Jeffrey Osborne dubbed Wednesday's call, in which Musk talked of "barnacles, flufferbots, and bonehead bears," surreal. Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas said it was the most unusual call he had heard in 20 years in the business.
"Tesla refused to address analyst questions on capex, cash burn and other 'boring bonehead questions,'" Osborne said. The fuck is wrong with this man

It's basically the human part and the companies / over sight that let it down. It was just in 2017 that Nissan admitted that they had been providing incorrect / under training their quality control department in japan for 40 years. Hence their reliability / build issues that they're sort of known for here.
And yes, it was not the cabin or the exterior styling (... what the) but the quality of the build it self. Several media here have started questioning the build quality. It's hard to say whether that's just "Chinese manufacturing" skepticism or genuine concern based on consumer feedback, because figures just aren't being released.
By reilo Go To PostGiri, what's wrong with the F-Pace? It fits all your criteria.Just put this out there for others we talked about it in chat.
Because for some reason Jaguars are dumb expensive here.
A standard spec Jag F-pace Prestige (base model) with the AWD Turbo Petrol engine is $83,000 drive away. I'd have to go over it to double check, because in the back of my mind i think when i did this properly i had it closer to 95 to match a fully sepc'd subaru outback.

So my dad got a new Mercedes Benz E300. I tried to talk him out of it. Good looking car with an objectively incredible interior.
But goddamn is it slow and underpowered. He was between that and a Jag XF. And says MB gave a better lease deal in NYC. Oh well.

In the call, Musk devoted 23 minutes in taking questions from a 25-year-old Tesla investor, Galileo Russell, who owns an YouTube investment channel called HyperChange TV.The dude is a fucking child
"HyperChange represented actual investors, so I switched to them," Musk wrote in another tweet.
Yeah, "normal" "non-AMG" Mercedes cars are pretty great in an extremely vanilla way, but they're all slow wallflowers. The 4 cylinder turbo made almost everything slower and with less character, and frankly if I'm gonna buy a luxury car the power train better deliver some excitement, either by being smooth quiet and powerful or extroverted and thrilling.
Great interiors and tech packages on them regardless though.
On an unrelated note, Elon needs therapy and Tesla really, really needs to get their act together.
